Wolverine is a logistics nightmare, so much of the information about him is second and third hand, there are massive gaps in his service records, and we aren't even sure what his real name is. But he's the best he is at what he does. --General Nicholas FurySubject: Wolverine
File name: Unknown, presumed to be Logan, unsure if it is first name or surname. There are partial files that point towards his name being James Howlett, another Logan Howlett, another Logan Creed.
Birthplace: Western Canada, more detailed data unavailable
Known Aliases: Logan, Patch, Weapon X, Weapon 10, "Little Uncle", Death, James Logan, Agent X, numerous otherWhile information about the past of Codename Wolverine is scare, some data has been pieced together. He was born in Western Canada, possibly Alberta. According to the data that suggests he is James Howlett, he was the son of a reclusive family who struck it rich in the gold rush at the turn of the last century. He may or may not have been the illegitimate son of Mrs. Howlett and a hunter named Logan. Records from the time James would have been 10 that the Howletts and Logan were killed in a possible murder suicide. The boy lived in the wilderness until he was discovered by a Mountie investigating claims that a "Wendigo" was raiding traps and cabins. It is possible this boy was Wolverine, but due to the fire and remoteness of the house, verification is impossible.
Wolverine next shows up two years before the end of the Vietnam conflict. Claiming he was of legal age, he joins American forces in Southeast Asia, gaining a reputation as a vicious fighter, having almost supernatural prowess for discovering mines, avoiding ambushes and enemy snipers. He briefly joined Captain Nick Fury's Howling Commandos. After the way, Logan disappears and turns up again 3 years later in Japan, studying Bushido under Master Ogun to help control his urges towards violence and to push away the ghosts of the war. He was betrothed to Mariko Yashida, but she is slain on her wedding day by agents of the Hand as revenger against Logan.
A widower, Logan next shows up in the employ of the Central Intelligence Agency. He ran several black ops with "Team X", comprised of Victor Creed, David Nord, John Wraith, and Silver Fox. Taking a suicidal look on life, Logan volunteered for increasingly dangerous missions, his death wish apparent. This led to his volunteering for the Weapon X program. Very little is known, but what is known is Weapon X was a continuation of the original Project Rebirth, attempting to create a new Captain America. But instead of a heroic symbol, the "Jugglers" in Washington wanted a lethal killing machine they could drop behind enemy lines and expect the mission completed, no matter the odds or the cost of human life. Wolverine was put through a series of mind altering treatments, using mix of drugs, hypnosis and surgeries, leaving him a pissed off near amnesiac. He was armed with a pair of gauntlets featuring three 12" retractable claws for climbing and combat use. The claws are a mix of vibranium and adamantium, similar to the mixture used in the creation of Captain America's shield.
Ultimately considered a failure for not killing children women when the simulations called for, Wolverine was scheduled for termination before escaping, seriously damaging the Weapon X compound and leaving a trail or corpses in his wake. He wanted the wilderness for weeks, his mind a boiling sea of rage. He was found unconscious, half frozen to death and brought for treatment to Dr. Charles Xavier, which brought him to the attention of Director Fury and SHIELD. Recruited for Fury's black ops team, Wolverine is often paired with Agent Katherine "Kitty" Pryde. He claims she reminds him of a younger sister he thinks he had.
Note: I do plan to replace the claws with a pair form the Storm Shadow/Firefly comic pack once I get a second set.
