Following a tip from a friend, I checked a certain store today and FOUND the Temple of Doom assortment of Indiana Jones figures. Looked like they had everybody - Short Round, Willie Scott, Mola Ram, Temple Guard, Chief Temple Guard, and a new Indy with a shredded shirt.

Where did I find these? A grocery store chain called FRY'S. If you have it in your area, check there. The chain is also affiliated with Kroger's, so if you have those, it might also be worth a look.

Do NOT restrict your search to the toy section. I found these in a free-standing display that was nowhere near the toy department.

The last of the Indy figures -- here's your chance!

These were reported to have been found in a bunch of Kroger stores around the mid-West, but I still haven't seen them yet. The stores are starting to do their holiday resets, so these might be showing up for that. It sucks that it's come down to this, but at least there's more of a chance to find these than there was to find the final wave of POTC.

I can confirm the Kroger link, as I found a set there today. No Torn Shirt Indy, though. This is kinda harkening back to the MOTU Snake Men/Aldi's fiasco...

Hasbro wasn't kidding when they said it was their best IJ assortment yet. The paint apps are killer. Although the character is annoying, the Willie Scott figure is one of the best-looking 3.75" scale figs Hasbro has done in recent memory. Great detail!

Just checked my closest Kroger, but nothing yet. I did see a few new Speed Racer Hotwheels though, which I'll be grabbing tomorrow.

Second that! If this line has suffered from one thing more than anything else, it has been unusually sloppy paint apps around the eyes. I expected to find Short Round looking like someone had just stepped on his foot or worse, but he was just fine. Very neatly done, as was the plaid detail on his outer shirt, and the logo and lines on his cap.

The other new figures, including Willie Scott, Mola Ram, and the Temple Guard and Chief Temple Guard, I think benefit from the fact that they have more ornate designs to begin with, as they appeared in the movie, compared to, say, German or Russian Soldiers (not to malign the soldiers). These designs have been carried out very effectively in these figures.

It's a genuine shame that the line is ending, but at least we got this wave, and all four movies are fairly represented in this Indiana Jones action figure series.

Sincerely sorry about that. If it helps, the only character I bought for myself was Short Round. I'm on a tight budget myself, you know, and I was never an Indy completist. There's probably still a generous supply of them out at the Fry's WAAAY out around the Old Spanish Trail/Pantano area. (I was with a friend yesterday who knows that region. I just get lost). And there's no reason to assume that's the only Fry's that has them.

The Kroger I found my set at looked to only have had one case to put out. I went over that store with a fine-toothed comb to make sure they didn't slip more out on another display on some other aisle, and didn't find anything. So far, I haven't seen a report that any one store had multiple cases.

Thanks for the tip. The wife went to Fry's this morning and picked up four for me, including the only Mola they had.

It's in my sig, but worth mentioning here as well that I'm army building the Thuggee. Will pay cost, postage, and something extra for anybody's effort. I can also trade any other TOD fig for a Thuggee guard!
