if ARAH figs actually looked like this at the store, I might never have been swayed by the 25th figs in the first place. Awesome job, awesome paint, awesome idea, and awesome accessories.

I was reading a little bit about prairie dogs and the way they watch/protect their communities. They dig them selves into holes, like a fox hole, and watch the perimeter of their communities and send signals to the rest of their group at the first sign of trouble. That is kind of how I pictured him operating and now that you mentioned it, I realized I forgot to include his binoculars in the pic. Yes, they really were supposed to be there. :shifty:

I was going to say, love the figure, hate the code name. But now that you have explained it, I love BOTH!

Cool concept.

The detailed ribbing of the bandolier on his chest is especially top notch.

Does he have a radio to contact the people he's protecting? or a mirror?

What is that rich reddish brown you used on his shirt? It looks to be the same you used on your RedMack custom and always makes the figure look steller.

Outstanding work.

Another ARAH fan here who really enjoys seeing some top notch work- the paintwork esp is fantastic.

The parts choices meshes together extremely well, the addition of the (IMO underused) Airborne helmet really helps to flesh out a real Spec Ops feel

Im afraid tho, I agree with Pluv in regard to your weapon choices.

The Uzi I can understand, but as a spotter, Id like to see some sort of assault rifle, say a modded MJ M14.

I would also say the addition of the spotter scope that MJ sells would make sense and ties in better with his speciality than a set of binoculars

(and now youve made a spotter you have to do a desert-themed sniper to team up with him :-P )

The weapon selection is lacking. I totally admit that. My original plan was a Marauder rifle with scope but the problem I had AFTER the figure was complete and I went about gearing him up, I found the on these particular arms I selected, the hands were closed really tight. This narrowed down the weapons I could pick from because I did not want to break a thumb and then have to repaint a new set of arms. So the uzi is a place holder until I find a more suitable rifle that will fit his tight grip with out danger of breakage.

Pluv... I know that the working holster is something that I am kinda known for putting on almost all my customs. I agree that it is a great touch but after doing the mods to the torso I just did not feel like doing it. Call me lazy. I promise the next ARAH custom I post will have one.. just for you.

It is the same color. I use Citadel paints. The color is called "Bestial Brown". If you want a bottle and do not have a resource for it, let me know and I'll hook you up. You should be able to get it anywhere that sells RPG miniatures.

That is truly a beautiful custom. Paints and parts are perfect and being ARAH is just icing on the cake.

Belated, but still...

I love the modifications to the chest: the pouches are really seamlessly integrated into the body. I've used that Footloose chest a thousand times, and have spent hours looking at it and sanding it, but I still had to stare at him for a few seconds before I recognized the part. Painting the rolled-up sleeve cuffs was a nice touch. The camo is excellent, and it's nice to see that camo pattern get some use (I've never been a big fan of the more recent desert camo scheme, and I prefer the "chocolate chip" version). The most impressive thing about this guy is that you used some fairly common parts, but disguised them very well: everybody has Dusty legs, Bazooka waists, and Footloose chests laying around, but I don't see them when I look at the custom. I'm one of the few people who likes the Freefall head as a part in general, so it's nice to see it getting some use, too.

I like the specialty, too: anything sniper-y or spotter-y is always a plus in my book, and considering the nature of desert warfare, he'd be very useful.

And, it's ARAH.

An all-around cool custom, and one that gets back to the roots of Joe customizing. Nicely done, sir.

Agreed. I actually just looked at an original Footloose torso and noticed how modded and different yours looked! They're worlds apart. And once again, the paint job looks crisp - I wish I had your skills.

How did you paint the hair so that the paint would not chip when removing the helmet? That's a recurring problem I have with my customs.

not much I can say that hasn't already, very sharp, very nice figure. I knew immediatly where you where comin' from with the codename. He reminds me alot of Mal from Firefly.
