Not to diverge any further from the topic than we already have, but I have to say it's been a long time since I've been impressed with anything Claremont has done. I feel he stayed way too long with the X-Men and started to bring far too much weirdness in (starting with Dracula), and most recently, thoroughly ruined the Exiles title.
In my opinion, the guy is to X-Men what Michael Eisner was to Disney, and Rick Berman to Star Trek -- somebody who was talented, but who stayed too long and started believing too much of his own hype.
In all fairness I tend to agree, While I liked his version of Aliens vs. Predator, I haven't seen much to be impressed with since then. Sometimes on X-men he did drag a plotline out too (How long was madyline hanging with the x-folks before cyke finally found out, like years and years). Still he did alot of GREAT X-men Stories (Days of Future Past, God Loves, Man Kills, Mutant Massicare, Inferno)
On drac, I can see a point, but too he was a regular in the Marvel universe at the time, and honestly I love the sceane where wolvie tries to hold him off with crossing his claws and drac laughs at him.
