Glad to see I am not the only one taking in the spirits tonight. LOL

Either way....Harrisburg is but 40 minutes away from Pottsville....so keep that in mind, hopefully the day of the meet co-incides with the time you are out this way buddy!!

I need a few beers, maybe next weekend.

I am located in Johnstown, PA, small city, but far enough away to make it a long trip, with the turnpike and gas prices, i know they are steady at $1.99 in my area, but still.

I know of a collector out your way...he goes on the boards as "TheWyseOne". From the pics he shows...he has quite a "museum" of sorts. I am trying to get him to make a trip out also....carpool possibly? lol

About the locations, Pottsville is way closer for me, but I know nothing about it really. If you have details on Pottsville, like a meeting location and nearby things we could post them up and vote. That way we would know which location would get the most turnout.

Who is close to pottsville? My wife works there and it takes her an hour to get there from here. So those coming NJ NY are going to have a long trip. Its either the same or farther away for me. Not complaining just trying to get an idea of why pottsville?

According to the various map site online, pottsville is closer by about 10 minutes. Me and apac were just throwing it out there to see how it would take. nevermind.

It's not a bad idea, we just need to get alternate location details and input from everybody. We could all carpool and invade Canada this year as well  . I will tell the border guard I am there to annex Canada.

I rather it stay in Wilkes-Barre. We've been there every year, so why change now?

Jbyrrd and I are pretty close together...anyone else in this neck of the woods to consider carpooling possiblities? Pottsville only amounts to maybe a half hour closer difference for Jbyrrd and me. Depending on the date it's pretty likely I'm gonna try to come. Hubby told me he absolutely is not going to miss some tractor show Memorial Day weekend like 2 or 3 hours away...I told him it was fine with me as long as I got to go to the JoeCustoms picnic! LOL

I wonder...would it be worth it to have likely attendees post where they're coming from and maybe choose a middle point, or one that makes sense based on where most people are but is more friendly to westerners? And has anyone considered something in the middle of PA...around State College area, maybe? Or if most everyone's in the east, something between State College area and Wilkes Barre? Just some thoughts. If no one's actually in a middle ground area, I'm willing to do some legwork to find a place.

I live kind of in the middle of State College and Wilkes-Barre in a town called Berwick. I have an apartment so we can't have a picnic here but there are some parks around. I am very familiar with Wilkes-Barre but talk about home field advantage of having it in Berwick!

Mapquest Berwick guys and see how far that is compared to Wilkes-Barre.

via Mapquest:

Allentown to Kingston: Total Estimated Time: 1 hour 12 minutes Total Estimated Distance: 64.46 miles

Allentown to Pottsville: Total Estimated Time: 56 minutes Total Estimated Distance: 45.78 miles

Not sure which way you come over...but I get from my house to Allentown in a little over 40-45 minutes...78 might as well be the turnpike, if you drive the speed limit...you are always passed and pushed into the driving lane.

As for why Pottsville...I just threw it out there...considering the list of past attendee's....it seems the bulk of us are driving north...and just thought maybe something more central to those of us who attend would help out the ones with the drives. Pottsville has a lower crime rate also...I remember the incident of Flint's customs being stolen from his car...as do others, I'm sure.

Also...seeing as how 78 runs through pa and nj...I figured maybe it would be closer for those from jersey to come over. From 78 up 61 to pottsville is a half hour drive at the most.

It was just a thought. Like it..hate it...I just thought I would toss it out there. Honestly...Wilkes barre is an hours drive for me...so if it is there...I have no worries. The past attendees that have the farther drive...I was only thinking of them.

Berwick is about the same distance from Pottsville as Kingston is.

via Mapquest:
Johnstown to Berwick: 3 hours 12 minutes 182.07 miles
Johnstown to Pottsville: 3 hours 39 minutes 190.45 miles

How 8 miles difference equals 27 minutes...I have no idea.

Jbyrdd, MacGyver...please don't feel that I am leaving you two out..(or others) in this. I was tossing an idea out there...and meant no offense by my comments of "past attendees"...we are ALWAYS looking for new attendees. :-)

By all means...let us know of your thoughts on the subject.
