It's Pennsylvania. :rotfl:

From me to Pottsville is 2 hours 52 minutes...from J-town it'd be a little further, of course. Wilkes Barre is 3 h 28 m. Berwick is 2h 59m.

So really it's not a whole lot of difference, tho a half hour less driving is nice. Of the proposed places, Pottsville looks to make the most sense for us westerners and what with a lower crime rate, maybe it would be better than WB. Regardless, I'm sure I can count on a 3-4 hour drive.

Apac...no probs, man! It makes sense to have this closer to the bulk of attendees...and I'm guessing that's not western PA! :D

Not that we've had any westerners show up in the past. :shifty: But seriously, Apac and I have been talking about it and it seems like a more central location all around. Plus we can take a tour of the Yuengling Brewery.

It's an hour further each way for Aegis and I, but should be closer for everyone else except us, Chuckles and possibly Blitzkreig? I'm cool with Pottsville. Everyone can see how the "Skooks" roll :monocle: .
Millsy, I heard you possibly have a hall we can get for a good deal ?
And the tour of Americas oldest Brewery (Yuengling) is well worth it. Plus it's free !! or atleast was...
I'm cool with the move, but I prefer we hammer out a date as quickley as possible as I tend to get busy.

Just a thought. :-/

What about Blitz and Topless? They haven't posted here for a while. Along with I they seemed to help organize things pretty well. I think they have a right to speak their peace.

Topless posted the other day. Blitz hasn't been on since the 23rd of February. I just thought I'd get the ball rolling. You want to organize it? Be my guest. I'm done trying to figure this out. I'll vote for a day when you post the options, and if I can make it, I will. If not, then maybe I'll see you guys next year. I've got to much on my mind to argue over where we're having it. We just thought Pottsville would be more localized for people and maybe get a few in who didn't make it before. Send me a PM when you have a date poll up. It's all yours now. Enjoy.

I voted...for Pottsville, tis not only close for me...but closer for the bulk of past attendees.

As for whats in Pottsville....Yuengling Brewery tour...for family...there is plenty of hotels and campgrounds (mapquest Pottsville PA...and search campgrounds for a list)...also we are but 40 minutes from Knoebel's Grove Amusement Park...the nations only free admission amusement park...which I frequent more than 4 times a year...yes, I am cheap. lol

Either way...Wilkes Barre or Pottsville works for me. I am planning on having a meet here at my place in the Fall either way...I will post more on that in a new thread as I set it up...but I am planning on a weekend in August.

Sorry.

I didn't want to get anyone mad or anything. I'll go where ever we have it but if we have it in Pottsville we'll have pull together to get it organized. For example, we would have to start fresh with where we would have it, getting everyone directions to get there etc.

I PMed Blitz about it a few weeks ago and he said should wait to post anything. Not much longer Millsy you posted this thread.

I would like to have a place and a date as soon as we can so I can take off of work. Plus get our wish lists in. I stil need a Trakker for example. And how about a custom contest? And my movie.

No hard feelings Millsy. Thanks for starting the ball rolling. Love you man.

Millsy,

Based on Chuckles' later response, he didn't mean to offend or upset you. His response shows that he is truly sorry if his post was taken in that matter. Please continue to contribute to this thread. The picnics have been a success, because it's been a group effort. Every single person contributing helps make the event better, and in the planning stages, helps ensure that everyone will have a fun time.

As I wrote in my PM to you, we all appreciate you taking the initiative and starting this thread and even setting up a poll. I especially appreciate your efforts, since I have been sidelined at times recently due to health issues. I am sure we can work past these minor speed bumps and plan the next picnic just as well as the previous ones, wherever it may be. We still have plenty of time to get the thread firing on all cylinders, so no worries.

With that being said, Maverick is re-engaging. Prepare for a "Blitzkrieg" of posts this weekend. :-D

For some reason I was getting Pottsville and Pottstown mixed up in my head. Pottsville is only 15 minutes more of a drive than Wiles-Barre for me and less than an hour overall! So that's no problem with me. As long as we all can get together again I'll be happy.

No hard feelings with anyone. Just been having a rough couple weeks, and the stress of that trickled over. Thats why I started the poll, to get everyone's feelings on a location. I figured knowing a location by the 31st would give us enough time to hammer out the details of the date. Let's see what we can plan.

EDIT: I added a poll for a location. It will run till the end of the month. For any new locations enter where and why. Or any debates for the other locations.

With spring almost upon us, I figured it was time to get the ball rolling on the picnic again.
Come one, Come all!

Place: Kirby Park, Wilkes Barre, PA (well technically Kingston)
301 Northampton Street, Kingston, Pennsylvania‎ - (570) 208-4240‎

Date: TBA(Senior Event Staff will figure this out) Usually late May/early June.

Time: 10:30am start time. Somebody usually gets there early to grab our usual spot.(I'm looking at you Chuckles.)

Food: Potluck's been working so far, so we'll keep it that way.

I'll be sending IMs to our regular to get them on the ball. All are welcome to attend. Items for sale or trade. Show off your customs. Get out of the house and mingle with some fellow joe fans. I'll be making a Picnic Exclusive Custom again this year and I encourage people to do the same( coughDarkwyntercough :shifty: )

A poll will be forthcoming with the dates. Hope to see you all there.

Millsy,

Thanks for starting the thread.

If new concrete location suggestions are mentioned with necessary details, we can either add them to the poll (if the poll allows for re-voting/changing your vote), or we'll just start a new one at the end of the month. Then we can adjust update the details of your first post as necessary for new readers.

10:30 AM sounds like a good start time regardless of location. Some of us will need to drive further than others, wherever we may be. So I am sure people will show up within a 2-hour window. If we end up going to Wilkes-Barre, I am sure Chuckles will be our designated squatter for our favorite gazebo location.

Late May/early June should be good for me, barring any unforeseen circumstances. We can set up a separate poll for this once we've nailed down a location.

As you mentioned, potluck has been successful so far. We can figure out who should bring what after we've finalized the location.

I look forward to seeing (and buying) your picnic customs. I really missed those last year (a nice souvenir to remember a fun day). Will we (or should we) still stick with the miner theme from past years? Hopefully Darkwynter will also be able to contribute a custom figure for the picnic as well, between changing Diaper Viper's diapers.

I'm looking forward to seeing the customs that everyone's created over the past year, and hopefully being able to pick up (purchase) customizing fodder. Maybe even seeing a couple new faces.

Blitzkrieg
