Also wanted to mention there is a petting zoo for any children, and for the Big kids there is a TRU right across the street from Long's Park. Getting to LP is al Highway.

I threw out Berwick early on as an idea, it looks like Pottsville is our winner. Chain resteraunts? Let's see, we have a Burger King, McDonald's and Dunkin Donuts. Both Pizza Hut and KFC closed :rotfl:

Chain restaurants in Pottsville Area:

Dunkin Donuts, Burger King, Wendy's, McDonalds, Ruby Tuesday, Friendly's, Pizza Hut.

Some of the gems are the non-chain restaurants. Flint and I ate at "Port Clinton Hotel"...food was great, and serving sizes were excellent.

First off, the poll is still open for another week. So don't count your chickens before they hatch. :-P

Secondly, yes, the restaurants you listed are chain restaurants, but they are more along the lines of fast food restaurants where customers are not intended/expected to be (comfortably) hanging out for a couple hours like Smokey Bones, Ground Round, or Pottville's Ruby Tuesday in a pub/bar type setting. I picked up on your list of restaurants during my preliminary research as well. Didn't know about the Pizza Hut being closed though. ;-)

Among the chain restaurants listed, Ruby Tuesday still sounds like the best choice. It has the bar/pub style setting we've enjoyed in the past. The Tri-State Vipers traditionally eat at Ruby Tuesday after the Connecticut G.I. Joe Show. Violentfix is a chef by profession (i.e., tough food critic) and he praises the food at Ruby Tuesday. Pizza Hut and Friendly's could work, but they don't accommodate large parties as well as Ruby Tuesday.

I am pretty biased in favor of chain restaurants for a number of reasons, such as free refills, you know basically what you're going to get if you order the same item at two different restaurants of the same chain, and the "corporate" hierarchy to which you can complain if something is wrong. Plus there's my Web site that I run with my wife: www.restaurantchainlinks.net <shameless plug>. :-D

However, assuming Pottsville is the next location for our picnic, if the majority of folks going out to dinner would rather eat somewhere other than Ruby Tuesday, I'll go along with it.

Lancaster has: TGI Fridays, Damon's, Fudrucker's, Qdoba, Arby's, Burger King, Long John Silver's, Wendy's, McDonald's, and a slew of other's only 2-5 minutes from Long's Park. From My house you have McDonald's, Burger King, Subway, and Ruby Tuesday.

Chuckles- I love the mini-movie (PSA) idea...I'd like to do 2 if they went quick one where it's a Cobra one for the bad kids as well...I could easily brainstorm some ideas if there is interest in this.
I could be Flint, Zartan or Zandar...you've seen me as Flint, I was in FHM as Zartan (and won a runner up prize) and have played Zandar in 2 action shorts for one of my buddies.

Blitz- for a small shoot of this duration I don't think you need to be typing up scripts or story boarding camera angles; though if you want to I won't stop you. Having done several of these types of shoots in college and some limited acting afterward.. as long as we have the premise and the costumes/props it usually works best to just let the actors ad lib.

I warn you both of you now; this WILL result in Millsy and Apac talking like Cobra Commander for the remainder of the day !

Everyone-
I vote NO to any customizing contest during this meet. A- it's not my cup of tea for rushing, B- we never seem to have the time anyway.

I vote YES to the mini-movie

I vote YES to deciding on a custom theme for next year's or the fall meet

I voted for Pottsville for location.

I'd love to have a TRIVIA contest again.

I'm probly up for carpooling if my family isn't coming along. It'd probly be easy for jbyrrd and TWO to meet up and I'm probly pretty much on the way. Have to talk to hubby and see what he thinks...especially about his wife spending 3 hours in a car with 2 strange guys! LOL! He may prefer to have me drive on my own. Am I going to be the only girl at this event? ;) Hopefully I can chat with him tonight. Gotta find the date of that tractor show of his, too!

LOL...between the two of you, I never find ANYTHING in Johnstown!

Blitz, you quoted me on the central location thing...I'm willing to do legwork, but I think anything near me is pretty much not central to anyone but the J-town guys! The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few or the one... :rotfl:

There has to be a few others who collect our stuff, i have noticed at our TRU while talking with the peeps who work there, that there's one person who buys Joe, Star Wars and the new MU:FF and W:O figs by the shopping cart load, we must unite to stop the purge :-P :-P

Oh yeah Blitz if you could prepare the Joe Family Feud again for us that would be great. You did such a great job with that last year, it was one of the highlights of the day (along with Millsy and Flint taking off their shirts  ).

Ooo. A TRU within walking distance. Certainly a selling point for Lancaster either for the picnic or a future meet.

And all highway, even better. One of the reasons I am actually glad that we are most likely (the poll is still open) choosing an alternate spot for the picnic is that Wilkes-Barre (Kirby Park) was by far a more difficult drive for me over Allentown (or any town off the I-78). Distance should not be the only factor we consider when choosing a present or future location, but also difficulty of travel.

Damon's? Nice. We used to have a couple around my neck of the woods, but they went belly up. Hopefully we can get together there after the picnic (the poll is still open) or if Lancaster is ever chosen for a future PA JC meet.

Hi guys. I haven't posted in awhile, but I am up for the picnic deal again. For those of you who know me and those who don't I live in Lancaster, PA. I don't know how centralized that would be, but I have 3 Very nice parks that are each only 5 minutes from my house. Which I could most likely host the picnic at my house depending how many are coming. If it's a week day the wife will be at work and I could have any of the 20 some people who want to babysit my diaper-viper babysit him. Anyways if that's interesting to anyone here is the information for you.

how many people can you accommodate? How much room do you have for people to put their stuff on display? I host frequent parties and normally can fit 20 people around on the first floor. I have a basement people could set up in. Think of Topless Jeeps basement. 1st floor people could set up in as well. The basement has all my stuff on display, but I can work around to fit people in.
what is the parking situation like? Street parking. During the day you shouldn't have any problems parking. Just make sure if street cleaning is happening that you don't park on that side, and don't park to close to the handicap spots. No visitor spots. Yes parallel parking is available.
Do you have to park 5-6 blocks away to find a space? You shouldn't.

For clarification, since you have a house, do you have a yard in which we could set up our stuff if the weather is actually nice, since it is a "picnic"? It's good to know we can set up inside as well, if needed.

Well, since we don't live in your neighborhood, you'd need to tell us if street cleaning were occurring. ;-)

Ok, parallel parking is available, but how about angle (non-parallel) parking spots? I suck at parallel parking... honestly.
