Chuckles- I love the mini-movie (PSA) idea...I'd like to do 2 if they went quick one where it's a Cobra one for the bad kids as well...I could easily brainstorm some ideas if there is interest in this.
I could be Flint, Zartan or Zandar...you've seen me as Flint, I was in FHM as Zartan (and won a runner up prize) and have played Zandar in 2 action shorts for one of my buddies.

Blitz- for a small shoot of this duration I don't think you need to be typing up scripts or story boarding camera angles; though if you want to I won't stop you. Having done several of these types of shoots in college and some limited acting afterward.. as long as we have the premise and the costumes/props it usually works best to just let the actors ad lib.

I warn you both of you now; this WILL result in Millsy and Apac talking like Cobra Commander for the remainder of the day !

Ok, so there is some interest in a mini-movie. Based on the lack of responses/feedback, I wasn't sure.

I think it's a great idea if you brainstorm some ideas and share your thoughts in the forum (even though the location and date haven't been finalized yet). Then those of us who are interested in participating to some extent or another can help flesh out the story more with you beforehand. As long as people are comfortable with ad libbing, that's fine with me. I am more comfortable with the written language than spoken, so for me, scripts/lines are my crutch.

I can help flesh out ideas based on your brainstorming, but I doubt then that even I would commit to a complete script, since my script writing tends to get "wooden" like George Lucas's Anakin prequel lines. We just need to make sure that there are more thespians attending than you and Chuckles. ;-)

Regarding the last line of your post... I'm counting on it.

Everyone-
I vote NO to any customizing contest during this meet. A- it's not my cup of tea for rushing, B- we never seem to have the time anyway.

I vote YES to the mini-movie

I vote YES to deciding on a custom theme for next year's or the fall meet

I voted for Pottsville for location.

I'd love to have a TRIVIA contest again.

PoetFlint,

I definitely appreciate the clear feedback on multiple topics. We've been trying to do so much at once, we'll need to recollect our thoughts after the date/location have been finalized.

Since you have concerns over time, I hope the mini-movie runs smoothly. It would be great if it worked. Then we could post it on YouTube or something with a link from this site. :-)

Yes, I will plan a trivia contest. However, it will be in a different format from what you've experienced in the past.

Oh yeah Blitz if you could prepare the Joe Family Feud again for us that would be great. You did such a great job with that last year, it was one of the highlights of the day (along with Millsy and Flint taking off their shirts  ).

I am glad that everyone enjoyed the Joe vs. Cobra Feud last year. It was certainly a blast and worth the days I spent preparing it. However, we will not be playing the JvC Feud this time. I'll bring back that format for a future meet or picnic.

The good news is that there will be a trivia contest in a format that we have not played before.

Hi guys. I haven't posted in awhile, but I am up for the picnic deal again. For those of you who know me and those who don't I live in Lancaster, PA. I don't know how centralized that would be, but I have 3 Very nice parks that are each only 5 minutes from my house. Which I could most likely host the picnic at my house depending how many are coming. If it's a week day the wife will be at work and I could have any of the 20 some people who want to babysit my diaper-viper babysit him. Anyways if that's interesting to anyone here is the information for you.

how many people can you accommodate? How much room do you have for people to put their stuff on display? I host frequent parties and normally can fit 20 people around on the first floor. I have a basement people could set up in. Think of Topless Jeeps basement. 1st floor people could set up in as well. The basement has all my stuff on display, but I can work around to fit people in.
what is the parking situation like? Street parking. During the day you shouldn't have any problems parking. Just make sure if street cleaning is happening that you don't park on that side, and don't park to close to the handicap spots. No visitor spots. Yes parallel parking is available.
Do you have to park 5-6 blocks away to find a space? You shouldn't.

For clarification, since you have a house, do you have a yard in which we could set up our stuff if the weather is actually nice, since it is a "picnic"? It's good to know we can set up inside as well, if needed.

Well, since we don't live in your neighborhood, you'd need to tell us if street cleaning were occurring. ;-)

Ok, parallel parking is available, but how about angle (non-parallel) parking spots? I suck at parallel parking... honestly.

Blitzkrieg
Yes I have a decent size yard. It's nothing to put in home and gardens, but it would suffice I'm sure. I also have a nice grill. By the time of the picnic I should have sod down so that will make it nicer.

If we are having it on Sat. there is no street cleaning.

Only parking is street parking unless you want to park about two blocks away. My neighborhood is not crammed so parallel parking is not hard here.

Any other questions are welcome.

Ooo. A TRU within walking distance. Certainly a selling point for Lancaster either for the picnic or a future meet.

And all highway, even better. One of the reasons I am actually glad that we are most likely (the poll is still open) choosing an alternate spot for the picnic is that Wilkes-Barre (Kirby Park) was by far a more difficult drive for me over Allentown (or any town off the I-78). Distance should not be the only factor we consider when choosing a present or future location, but also difficulty of travel.

Blitzkrieg

Yes the TRU is literally right across the street from the park. And all Highway is a plus for anyone.

I just cast my vote for Pottsville. I really liked the park at Wilkes-Barre and the family really had fun there, but even down here in MD I hear more and more bad news from there. I would be open to having it there again, but I would not let the kids wander for sure. So, I'm up for trying a new locale this year.

PoetFlint wrote:
And the tour of Americas oldest Brewery (Yuengling) is well worth it.

Hey, if you guys are launching an expedition, could you post up the times and who's going? With the family in tow I'm gonna have to pass on this, but I will plan a sidetrip in the timeslot. And make sure you work out the designated driver in advance. :-P

Anybody up for Prince Gallitzen State Park or Raystown Lake ?
Both have plenty to do, swimming, beach laying around lazy type of stuffs, pinic areas w/BBQ grills, trails, boating rentals.
Just a thought. :-/

If you give us some locations as far east as your willing to go we can discuss them at the meeting for next year or even the fall. I think that would be the best chance of getting it moved closer to you. I have been bringing my whole family, including the dogs to the meet and it is a 3-4 hour trip one way for me. I make a weekend of it and go camping at Rickets Glen State park, so am very comfortable with the park idea (odds are I'd just drive up and camp there the weekend). The wife may even have some relatives near Lancaster.

As for whats in Pottsville....Yuengling Brewery tour...for family...there is plenty of hotels and campgrounds (mapquest Pottsville PA...and search campgrounds for a list)...also we are but 40 minutes from Knoebel's Grove Amusement Park...the nations only free admission amusement park...which I frequent more than 4 times a year...yes, I am cheap. lol

The Amusement Park is a great tidbit of info, I'll look it up and post up some info for those interested. Also again, if you guys do a Brewery tour let me know the times as that is most likely when I'll schedule the family events :).

Care to share Diaper Viper's real name? Or is classified? ;-)

My ideal exclusive figure style is either ARAH (which may limit your choices) or new sculpt. If I want another 25th Anniversary sculpt, I can go to retail.

The Diaper Viper's name Is Bethany :). She should be in tow this year, last year she stayed at the campground in the pool with Alorra, the wife, and in-laws.

I got some fodder parts for exclusives, but am having a tough time coming up with ideas.....I was thinking I might add to the Methane/Auger/Mine Viper theme if I can't come up with anything new. I was also thinking of doing the figure in smaller numbers in all styles to accomidate everyones tastes.

To add to Pottsville area:

Multiple hotels...I know I have said this before, but the best tool is mapquest and the "Hotels/Motels" Tab. If you are thinking of a specific one...please by all means let Millsy or Myself know and we can tell you what we know of these establishments.

Family wise: Knoebel's Grove is a mere 40 minutes away....the nations only free admission amusement park. Also...Hershey Park of Hershey PA is only 45 minutes away. Other attractions include Pioneer Coal Mine Tour...after all this is home of the coal region....they take you via an old coal train trolley into a coal mine, a real treat during the summer as it is like natural air conditioning - I actually got kicked out as I didn't want to leave it was so pleasant.

We are but 30 minutes from the Crystal Cave exhibit....and underground natural cave.....with much geological sites to be seen. Not to mention home to Yuengling Brewery...home of America's Oldest Brewery...which features free tours during week days.

There is much in this area....for all, including family. Campgrounds area (which I know Frost will be interested in) can also be viewed via mapquest...go to Pottsville Pa 17901 and search "campgrounds"...Millsy and I will report any and all info we have on what prospective sites you think of.

More gold here :) Once we get more definates, I'll lock in an intenerary with the family and run it by you guys to make sure they are as good as the internet says :).

Hey, if you bring some info we could discuss it for the next meet. Lancaster may be a good midway point for the western PA'ers and even mid MD'ers like yojoe-a-go-go.

My wife and two daughters should be there. My oldest SilverWynter is a member and has made some of her own customs.

I'm glad that someone is enjoying them. ;-)

I am a scientist by nature (and formerly by profession). I am also detail-oriented and in helping to organize the picnic, I try to make sure we have all of our bases covered so that we make a minimum number (preferably zero) of assumptions and also have contingency plans in place, if Murphy's Law takes effect.

BTW, I majored in chemistry partly because of my (and my classmates') enjoyment of MacGyver. No joke. In high school, we didn't know what a mullet was at the time, but alot of the guys sported that "do", but we called it the "MacGyver haircut". :-)

Yep. It would be the same characters in all three styles. All the acc. and filecards would be the same. I'm still working it out, I just think that this would allow for a better fit into everyones collection. That way if you like it you just get the one that works best in your army :).
