I first read an Inhumans story when I was about seven years old. The character of Black Bolt fascinated me. A king who had taken a vow of silence, his merest whisper being capable of levelling a building.
When I saw the Marvel Universe Black Panther figure, I knew that I was going to have to buy two. One to keep, and one to turn into a figure I have wanted for a couple of decades.
I was originally going to use a cast of the MU daredevil head, but once I had hollowed it out and put it on the neck post, I realised it was far too small. Emptying out one of my tubs of heads, I found a couple of GI Joe vs Cobra Zartan heads. I cut the neck joint off and hollowed it out for a perfect fit. The filament on his forehead might have been a problem. Going through my parts box, I found part of a JvsC three part nunchuk and cut the link off. I also found a Playmates Star trek Next Generation dustbuster phaser. I carefully sliced off the square trigger and part of its frame and melded the three parts together. After painting the belt on, I was a little apprehensive about the lightning markings on his costume. I settled on using a piece of inkjet waterslide decal paper for these, and for the bands on his legs also. I used a couple of pieces of cloth for the wings for now, until I settle on something better.
