Or we can say to heck with it (which is fine with me) and just stick with the mini-movie.

I think it's a good idea. The "snapshot" diorama even allows newcomers to participate in a group project without having to worry about customizing. Do you have any suggestions on the scene that we could set up? Perhaps post a couple screencaps from the cartoon or extracts from the comic?

Millsy,

Thanks for coming through for us!

Millsy/Apac,

A few questions about the hall:

1) How many people can the room/hall accommodate? (How big is it?)

2) Are chairs/tables provided so that people can easily set up their stuff?

3) Does the kitchette have a microwave for us to reheat any potluck food, if necessary?

4) What is the parking situation around the building?

5) Is there any chance that you could post a couple pictures this month of the room we'll be using and the outside of the building itself? The inside pictures would help people visualize how to set up their stuff and the outside pictures would help us know what types of scenes we can shoot for the mini-movie.

Thanks guys!

Nice! I'll make sure to allocate time in the itinerary. How much time do you think you'll need for your tutorial?

Everytime it seems we have run out of time and we don't get to half the stuff we intended to. 5-6 hours will seem like 2 if that.

Honestly it ends up being that we spend the majority of the time looking at each others work and trading ...lots of trading !

To say we all click pretty good together and are comfortable with each other and each others stuff is an understatement.

We bring potluck and have tried to kind of set down to eat...and I don't think it's ever happened. In fact we have actually forgotten to eat !!

It sounds kinda choatic and lame when in reality it's so much fun and goes so quick you can't believe hours have gone by.

Time certainly flies at the picnic, and we all get along very well. People end up eating whenever they are hungry, so there's isn't a formal sit-down for lunch, as PoetFlint mentioned. Everyone ends up having a fun time.

However, to give us a little credit, last time we were pretty organized. We had an itinerary packed full of activities and we stuck to it pretty well with plenty of time in between for checking out customs and trading. I've quoted the itinerary below for MacGyver's reference.

I've constructed the following tentative itinerary with the approval of the listed presenters:

Before 10:30 AM - Chuckles, PoetFlint, and/or Toplessjeep secure a pavillion in Kirby Park

10:30 AM until 12 Noon - Attendees arrive... Meet & Greet/Introductions... Urban/SWAT Custom Group Project setup on picnic tables*

*If time and weather allow, the group project will be set up in an appropriate place in the park for action dio pictures

12 Noon - Millsy and Darkwynter 25th Anniversary Figure Disassembly Demonstrations

12:30 PM - Lunch

1:30 PM - Chuckles' Group Survey Discussion

2:00 PM - Apacolypse's Vehicle Pythonizing (Painting) Demonstration

3:00 PM - Joe Trivia Contest (Team-Based)

5:00 PM - 2nd Annual PA JoeCustoms Get Together Planning Discussion (Informal)

In Between Scheduled Events - Trading/Buying/Selling, Displaying of Customs (Non-Group), Casual Discussions, etc.

6:00 PM - Custom/Fodder Breakdown/Cleanup (I am not sure when the park closes, so this time is very tentative)

7:00 PM - Dinner at Smokey Bones BBQ Restaurant (or restaurant that majority chooses)

This schedule is flexible and subject to change.

Hope this helps!

I am sure your tutorial would help fellow customizers attending the picnic. I will allocate time for it on the itinerary. How much time you feel you would need?

Millsy is gonna have to do the recon work on this...the hall is merely feet from his home. I have spoke to other people who have held functions there...and they said it was a nice size hall, I know that doesn't help...as it didn't help me much either.

Millsy...grab this info as this will be very useful.

I'll do this quick cause I'm exhausted. I'll post some pics tommorrow.
Plenty of parking out back, yes there is a microwave, and the hall itself wiil hold 50-60 people. Round tables and chairs are supplied with a couple of rectangle ones there also.

Thanks guys. How much time? Depends on how many times I screw it up in the process! LOL! It almost never goes right the first time. But I can't imagine more than 15 minutes, maybe 20. I'll plan to bring a few figures...a guy, a gal, maybe a guy and gal Sigma, since it might be easier to see what's happening on a bigger figure. I'm sure it'll be nothing revolutionary and probably relatively unimpressive, but if it helps someone, I'll be happy. ;)

Thanks for the itinerary...that's helpful in fostering my obsessive compulsive control freak nature... :rotfl: :shifty: ..and I was proud of myself for resistig the temptation to ask for one. 7 pm dinner might be late for me to hang out for any length of time with traveling back the same day, but I can play that by ear. Depends on if I have traveling mates or not. It's nothing for me to travel a coupla hours both ways on a day trip and end up home late if I'm by myself.

You guys who are organizing this...thanks!

Just thinking...this might be corny, but I always thought it'd be neat to round up all the corresponding toys for the end shot of the cartoon title sequence of the cartoon and snap a picture...you know when everyone's standing in front of the American flag with their Yo Joe! fists?

This is what I'm talking about (from season 2): http://www.joetoonarchive.com/displayimage.php?album=7&pos=82

I think this one's better (from season 1)...more variety of poses so their not just all lined up: http://www.joetoonarchive.com/displayimage.php?album=6&pos=82

My movie(s) shouldn't take long. They could be done inbetween other activities or whenever we think of things we want to shoot. You guys imput is going to very important too!

I just need everyone to bring one or two costumes.
