so, i apologize if this has been brought up recently, but i didn't feel like looking through the 121 pages of search results for 'joe dvd' on our site...

Shout! Factory is releasing the Sunbow Joe cartoons, starting with 1.1 (at a much better price) but also an SDCC Footlocker 'exclusive' of the entire series...

(some) Details here:

I'm very excited about this! I have the entire first season along with the first two mini series from when Rhino put them out, but from what I've read, this new release is going to really get the treatment. I think I'm going to get the footlocker thing. Since I don't collect the 25thA Joes very much, I'll have the funds available. :-D I'm also excited to get the Transformer DVDs. I was only able to snag a second hand copy of the first season Rhino DVDs last time around.

well crap, this is great news but what do I do with all the Kid Rhino stuff? It cost an arm-and-a-leg to get in the first place, and half their production was pretty bad, AND they didn't include the last half of the final season...

I hope Shout! will be complete.

Aren't they kind of shooting themselves in the foot with this release plan?

"Here's half of the first season, in stores now! But we're releasing a boxed set of the FULL season shortly thereafter!"

Who's going to bother buying that first half??

The full *Series*, not the full season.

A lot of people will not be able to afford the full series set, and will be happy to buy it piece by piece as it's released.

PSAs...That's all I have to say.

Ok..so it's not...I'm curious if the footlocker set will have all the same features as the individual sets. That could be the catch-22. Perhaps the season sets will have those features but the entire set will have...something else?

That was a bone of contention with the MacGyver series...they released one season at a time (with no inkling of a whole set release) so fans spent $30 each for 7 seasons and hoped to get the TV movies, but didn't. Now they've released the whole season set, which includes the movies and that's the only way to get them. Macfans really got the short end with that one.

At least with Joe we know there will be a whole set and we can wait and see what the differences might be.

I was planning on donating my own miniseries dvds to either the local library, or try to send it out to the troops overseas.
