Okay, I'm getting nostalgic for my childhood, tracking down toys I loved as a kid and such. One of the things I really want to track down is the first comic I recall reading. It's an issue of the G.I. Joe Marvel run but I can't recall much about it. I know it was in the mid 80's and the one thing I distinctly remember is it being the middle of a story arc and Snow Job, Quick-kick (I think) and one other Joe were escaping from somewhere in Europe on a train. I remember them hiding in a freight car for some reason. I know that's not a lot to go on but I'd really like to track this issue down if at all possible. I know one of you comic guys with an encyclopedic knowledge of the Marvel run can help me out so thanks in advance.

Sounds like maybe GI Joe #62 where Stalker, Quick Kick, and Snow Job were captured by the Borovians and transported to a Gulag in a train?

Maybe?

Yep, it's around that time. The storyline ran from #61-66, with issue 6 of Special Missions thrown in, a great and overlooked story.

That's the one, #62. Just looked at the cover on YoJoe and I remember it now. Thanks!

Now to hunt for a good copy on ebay.

As long as we're recalling old stories, I'm scratching my head over one a bit myself (okay, so my comics collection is in a fair state of disarray at the moment). It involved a small team of Joes having to team up with a group of Dreadnoks in order to get out of one of those fictional little South American banana republics that Larry Hama came up with. I'm trying to remember who was on the Joe team in that storyline. I know Wild Bill was, but was Crazylegs part of that story? I think it took place somewhere in the 70's or 80's, issue-number-wise.

Issue #71, the best part is Crazylegs smacking Thrasher with the butt of his rifle to quiet him down!

My second favorite arc right behind the original Snake Eyes Origin. For years afterward I had somebody get captured in one of the epic battles for the Joes to rescue much later on.

The Joe/Dreadnok story I think was in the early #70's and had Wild Bill, Crazylegs and Maverick in the C-130 teaming up with Zarana and Broken-Nose Thrasher making friends with a little boy. Whoa---that sounds weird.

Those issues also featured pencils by the 2nd best Joe artist, Ron Wagner. Good times....good times.
