Mr. Cotton is one of the last crew members of the Pearl that I wish Zizzle would have made. He's on their list of figures to do, but for now, I made my own using a Count Dooku head and AWE Will Turner. I wanted to use Raghetti's legs, but they're too short and skinny. They would have been pretty accurate otherwise. I just kept Will's legs instead, and while not accurate, they don't look too bad.

Head: Count Dooku with more facial hair, bandana, and squinty eye sculpted on.
Body: AWE Will Turner with a vest sculpted on
Bird: Mega Blocks Davy Jones/Clanker pack.

I like it the face is perfect. Are you going to articulate him?

Perfect except for the bird. It is suppose to be a Blue gold McCaw. You've only got the blue.

D'oh, you caught my shortcut :shifty: I'll slap some yellow on him. He was actually a dark gray color originally. I guess he was supposed to be an evil parrot

As for articulating him: He's actually a little more articulated than the normal POTC figure because he uses the AWE Will body, which has ball jointed shoulders. I forgot to mention that I cut and repositioned the right arm so that the elbow bends forward, rather than to the side like it did originally (and like the left arm). But he's not getting any more articulation. He blends in with the rest as is.

Thanks, guys!

Edited with repainted bird. Thanks for the reference, P.

Hmmm. I may switch out my Obi-wan head that I used on mine and replace it with a modded Dooku head like yours. It will give me a chance to also fix the bandana. I did mine two low to the eyebrows where in the movie and like yours, he wears it higher on the forehead.

If you do want to swtich out the legs someday, I'd recommend using the Tai Huang (?) fig. Cotton wears that sort of pirate cutoff short pants with sandles (not thongs like Tai Huang has but pretty close)

Brilliant! Thanks a lot for that idea. I totally forgot about him. He's super easy to find so I won't feel bad using the one from my collection now.

Looks great! I did a quick boil and pop on the legs, and he looks tons better.

You guys made a decent custom even better with all the help. ;-)

I'm loving the head here, it looks exactly like the character. I couldn't even tell it was Dooku. Excellent work.

I'm sure if you used the real McCaw it would put this over the top.

Now if only Zizzle will make some more figures...

That is a spectacular looking custom. Nice work on the sculpting!

Along with several other new figures, a Cotton is actually coming in "At World's End" Wave 3 (due late Sept./early Oct. for the holiday buying season), I hope it looks even half as good as yours :)

ooh, wave 3!? I saw the list of figures a while ago, but I don't remember him being on it. I know Lord Beckett is supposed to be in it, and I forgot who else. That's good though; I'll be able to get an official Mr. Cotton even sooner :D

Edit: Looking at the Entertainment Earth listing, wave 3 will have Beckett, Flying Dutchman captain Will Turner, plus the usual guys. I hope the FD captain Will has the same type of articulation as the deluxe AWE Will.

Damn! They must have changed the assortment :( I was really looking forward to gettign Cotton as he is a very distinctive-looking character.
