Well, in addition to taking the kid to see TF2, getting my teeth cleaned, mowing the yard, and BBQing up a nice juicy pork shoulder roast (mmm.... pulled pork sammiches for the next week  ), I managed to whip these up while sitting around NOT working on the rest of my home repair "to-do" list...

I'm almost completely done with my Microman-to-MU custom conversion. These next two were the last "A-list" holdouts still in MM form:

Image

Still needs a little tweaking with the details. I know I painted his "belt" to look like Wally West, but I think this'll be my "Return of Barry Allen" figure. The gloves are flared, yes, but for what I had on hand, they work well enough. I'm gonna add wings to the boot tops and throw on some "tread" on the bottoms of his soles eventually.

Image

The trick was shrinking down the Johnny Storm body to match height with my Hal Jordan custom. Most of my DC customs are actually Joe scale, whereas the MU customs are slightly larger, due to the larger base figures. I don't like the HT/IF feet, so I grafted on some B&B to look more like his boots from the comic.

Head: Serpentor, sanded down to thin it out a bit.
Body: MU Johnny Storm
Hands: CC
Feet: B&B

Then there's little Kara, in her slutty little belly shirt ;) :

Image

Just like with Barry, she still needs some tweaks, but I've got her mostly where I want her. The skirt is made out of layers of electrician's tape cut into strips to give it the "pleated" look.

Image

The paint isn't as blotchy in person - the lighting in my workshop sucks, and jacks up the camera flash.

Head: Pilot Scarlett with Ms Marvel hair
Rest: Ms. Marvel

I managed to snag a Union Jack on my way home from the Dentist this morning. Even though he uses the crappy Daredevil/Bullseye mold, the paintjob on the torso was just too cool to pass up. I intended to swap out his legs for some Joe legs (SE or Firefly), but although MU legs pop on Joe t-bars just fine, it apparently doesn't work in reverse. So I used some Cap legs instead. Then I cut off his holster and scabbard and glued them to his thighs so he could actually bend his legs. Top it off with an actual Webley revolver (courtesy of an Indy fig), and you've got a pretty decent version of Britain's favorite vampire killer.

Image

Finally, I did a major mod to a custom I haven't shown yet - Jack Russell (in civvies). I used a Logan figure with an Ace head for an LBC and called it good for a while. Until I noticed that Jack was a midget next to his MU buddies. I borrowed a trick from GIJoey and used Teflon Plumber's Tape to wrap his leg posts while I extended his legs with Green Stuff. Made him quite a bit taller, and more in-scale with the MU figs:

Image

He looks ganglier than he is because he's hunched over in the pic. His proportions now actually match up perfectly to the Johnny Storm fig. I do need to go back and sand down his thighs a bit more and re-paint them.

Here's the WIP and some size comparisons:

Image

Anyway, that's all I was able to do today - I might have some more crap posted tomorrow if I get a minute :P

As always - I appreciate any comments or ideas on how I can fix these [LASER BLAST] up ~

Cheers!

Thats all you were able to get done? I wouldn't have even started.

Flash is my favorite. You nailed it so hard, that Sputnik's mom got jealous. I didn't even noticed the flared gloves until you pointed it out.

Well, I would have gotten more done, but I was on the phone with some Okie this morning.... ;-)

And I just noticed that Supergirl's neck was Super-long, so I've since fixed that:

lol - this pic reminds me of an issue of Brave & Bold where Kara's teamed up with Hal and he keeps telling himself "she's only 17, she's only 17...." -- no wonder I like Jordan so much :P

Holy Win, Chief -- not a stinker in the bunch, except that ol' Jack Russell isn't quite as compelling as your suited-up super heroes --

beautiful, man -- and they look production quality --

you produce more in a day than i even have time to think about -- and they're still top-notch!

well done, man!

Very nice Chief. Your flash is definitely my favorite out of the bunch. He turned out really great. The serpy head works really well for a masked superhero head.

The leg mods to Jack look great. I couldn't even tell what you had done until i saw you WIP pics.

The red on Flash is perfect. I like the Supergirl too. Nice catch on the neck being too long. I can't believe you made all these today!

Thanks guys!

I'm pretty proud of Flash - I just wish he looked as good in-hand as he does in the pics. Stoopid yellow detail painting  :P

I like them all, but wow that's a refreshing and unique take on Aquaman. He's not a custom you see very often. The red on Flash really pops. Did you use spray paint or brush it on?

Thanks TR - yeah, I'm pretty proud of that Aquaman too - I posted him a few months back - Hawk head (modded), Tomax torso/arms, CC gloves, B&B legs & styrene "fins". I painted clear orange over the gold shirt and got a pretty decent effect out of it:

Flash was (painstakingly) hand-painted. Citadel Blood Red. I was gonna go darker, but realized that Flash needs to stand out a little more.

Thanks again!

I'll break from the pack and say that Supergirl is actually my favorite of the lot. Those Ms. Marvel figs/legs are so perfect for customizing...and I'm always a sucker for superheroes that look like strippers. Hell, why limit that comment only to superheroes?

Flash is clearly unbelievable. The red is so vibrant I almost don't buy your claim to have handbrushed those paint apps. Especially in one day's work. I think I know what you mean on initially thinking darker red - maybe even a bit like the uni from the flash tv series - but this looks so much like production work, and that Justice League looking group pic is so perfect, I think you made the right call... plus it leaves me the option of working up a darker grittier one for my EXCAL verse some day, without having to live up to the figure you made here.

Thanks Dennis - yeah, Supergirl is my favorite too - the little whore.... :P

If MU figs weren't $8 a pop, I'd pick up more Ms Marvs and make a whole slew of stripper chicks. But as-is, I need to be a little more selective for my customs :-/

I couldn't say enough great things about your Superhero customs. I usually don't tackle that area of the customizing world, so I love to see customs of them. All of these are fantastic. That Union Jack is awesome.

Wow Chief! You did all that on one day off? That would have taken me a month, at least...

Great work on all of them. Supergirl is my favorite from the new ones, but I really dig Aquaman and Green Lantern. I just started reading Green Lantern v3 and am really getting into it.

What did you use to make Hal?

Again, good work!

Phenomenal work on that Flash, Chief.

If only DC would license you and set you up with a factory.
