Well, in addition to taking the kid to see TF2, getting my teeth cleaned, mowing the yard, and BBQing up a nice juicy pork shoulder roast (mmm.... pulled pork sammiches for the next week
), I managed to whip these up while sitting around NOT working on the rest of my home repair "to-do" list...
I'm almost completely done with my Microman-to-MU custom conversion. These next two were the last "A-list" holdouts still in MM form:
Still needs a little tweaking with the details. I know I painted his "belt" to look like Wally West, but I think this'll be my "Return of Barry Allen" figure. The gloves are flared, yes, but for what I had on hand, they work well enough. I'm gonna add wings to the boot tops and throw on some "tread" on the bottoms of his soles eventually.
The trick was shrinking down the Johnny Storm body to match height with my Hal Jordan custom. Most of my DC customs are actually Joe scale, whereas the MU customs are slightly larger, due to the larger base figures. I don't like the HT/IF feet, so I grafted on some B&B to look more like his boots from the comic.
Head: Serpentor, sanded down to thin it out a bit.
Body: MU Johnny Storm
Hands: CC
Feet: B&B
Then there's little Kara, in her slutty little belly shirt
:
Just like with Barry, she still needs some tweaks, but I've got her mostly where I want her. The skirt is made out of layers of electrician's tape cut into strips to give it the "pleated" look.
The paint isn't as blotchy in person - the lighting in my workshop sucks, and jacks up the camera flash.
Head: Pilot Scarlett with Ms Marvel hair
Rest: Ms. Marvel
I managed to snag a Union Jack on my way home from the Dentist this morning. Even though he uses the crappy Daredevil/Bullseye mold, the paintjob on the torso was just too cool to pass up. I intended to swap out his legs for some Joe legs (SE or Firefly), but although MU legs pop on Joe t-bars just fine, it apparently doesn't work in reverse. So I used some Cap legs instead. Then I cut off his holster and scabbard and glued them to his thighs so he could actually bend his legs. Top it off with an actual Webley revolver (courtesy of an Indy fig), and you've got a pretty decent version of Britain's favorite vampire killer.
Finally, I did a major mod to a custom I haven't shown yet - Jack Russell (in civvies). I used a Logan figure with an Ace head for an LBC and called it good for a while. Until I noticed that Jack was a midget next to his MU buddies. I borrowed a trick from GIJoey and used Teflon Plumber's Tape to wrap his leg posts while I extended his legs with Green Stuff. Made him quite a bit taller, and more in-scale with the MU figs:
He looks ganglier than he is because he's hunched over in the pic. His proportions now actually match up perfectly to the Johnny Storm fig. I do need to go back and sand down his thighs a bit more and re-paint them.
Here's the WIP and some size comparisons:
Anyway, that's all I was able to do today - I might have some more crap posted tomorrow if I get a minute
As always - I appreciate any comments or ideas on how I can fix these [LASER BLAST] up ~
Cheers!
