Mini bio: Rain is a graduate of the Ohio State University School of Medicine. Most would think that having a doctorate would mean a high paying job in a hospital, leading to a family practice with great hours in the future, and golf on Wednesdays. However, this was not Rain's reason for getting his degree. Having grown up in the shadow of an all star athlete of a brother, who then became his hometown's favorite son when he went off to fight for his country, Rain felt that he needed to make his own mark in the world, choosing to go into the medical field. However, when his brother was critically injured in a battle with Cobra Sand Scorpions* and sent back stateside, Rain's motivation changed, and he wanted to do what he could to help his country in the war on terrorism. He learned that an elite group of medically trained members of the Air Force known as Parajumpers (PJ's) had been responsible for going in and extracting his brother, which influenced Rain to join this group. After completing his training in Anchorage, Alaska, Rain determined the next move in his career path was to become a member of G.I. Joe, in order to apply his skills where he felt they were most needed, as they did not have a member of their team with this type of training at the time. When applying to the Joe Team, Rain was asked why he wanted to be a member; his reply, "The best forces in the US of A deserve the best care their country can offer. I want to provide that care, sir."
*On a side note: Doc states that while he respects Rain's dedication to the team and his willingness to enter battle zones to help injured Joes, he does not see eye-to-eye with him on his choice of using a gun as he does so (which he doesn't hesitate to use).
