Dusty

I plain didn't like the paint job he had so I went with something closer to the original figure. The cloth part of the helmet was replaced with one modified from the JvC Dusty. The webgear is from ROC Hawk since mine was missing his harness.

Kamakura

I wanted a definitive version of Snake-eyes' apprentice since the line started. After sorting through my comic collection with my friend Maria, I found and reread the Mater and Apprentice story and got inspired.

Recipe:
Head: Resolute Storm Shadow
Torso, Upper arms: Storm Shadow
Lower arms: Ripper
Right upper leg: Snake-eyes
Left upper leg: Duke
Lower legs: Snake-eyes
Pads: Spy Troops Kamakura
Hood: Arctic Snake-eyes

Mega Marine Gung Ho

When I saw the Delta 6 Accelerator Suit Ripcord, I knew he's be useful for someone. Looking at the Mega Monsters in my display, it clicked. I decided to stay with military colors, so the yellow-green of the original figure became olive.

The original figure was good, but a few things bothered me, namely his missing boots and long sleeves. So I popped out the arms and replaced them with the forearms from a comic pack Rock n Roll. Original I tried ROC Hawk's, but they looked too puny.

For the boots, I used the boil and pop method to remove Wet-suit's knees and a Viper's knees, then swapped them.

Dusty and Kamakura are excellent and all, but MM Gung Ho is flat out awesome. What a great use of that body. So, so fitting for him.

Dusty was a childhood favorite, so I think he's great.

This is probably the best version of Kamakura I've ever seen, hands down. The lowered hood looks great.

VERY inspired use of the accelerator suit for the Mega-Marines Gung-Ho.

3 great figures, well done!

Ah, such an easy fix, why didn't he come this way out of the box! Great work.

I knew it was only a matter of time before someone used the Accelerator Suit body for Mega Marines.

Looks great. He's got all the "military swirl" feel of the original Mega Marine figure, without all the bright yellow and orange.

I like all of these, but Gung Ho is a piece of art.

Ripcord

For the record, this is Altitude...

This is Ripcord...

SO the figure in the Assault on Cobra Island is Ripcord, not Altitude. Darn Rise of Cobra....

Any way, here is a simple fix I did to the darn near perfect Ripcord...

Image

Just kidding, had a few Marlon heads laying around.

I replaced the Red Star head with Airborne's, the RS head sat too low. I painted the flesh to match on the face and neck along with a new hair color. I also painted all the buckles on the harness. The final step was to carve out the elbow sockets a bit to give them full range of motion. I also drilled a hole into his harness so his air hose could connect.

I had a recipie that involves the Viper lower legs and ROC Hawk lower arms, but thanks for giving me the idea of popping off Wet-Suit's feet and reusing them with the Viper's boots/knee caps.

v1 Wet-Suit didn't have any gloves, hence why I'd go with ROC Hawk lower arms, but since I have neither at the moment did it look THAT skinny? With the gloveless lower arms, one of the Twin's communication wrist bands works for Wet-Suit's right hand and ROC Hawk's watch remains on his left hand - very close to accurate. I'm not buying Wet-Suit with gloves even though it is practical in the real world.

Awesome fixes on Ripcord, but your mods are way above my customizing skills heh, I'll just trade him away.

Love the Cobra Island tweaks...simple yet effective.

Also digging Kamakura lots and think that Dusty head makes an excellent innovation.

Mega Marine's Gung Ho isn;t my cup'o tea, but he is impressive.

Also, in the future, please be sure to combine all new customs posted in the same day into the same thread. Thanks.

Sorry, Spin. I meant for the Cobra Island fixes to be their own on going thread, I was going to post all 14 figures in the thread as I tweaked them.

Awesome stuff from top to bottom. 'Master and Apprentice' Kamakura is my favorite look for him too and you transferred him from comic to figure brilliantly. Gonna have to re-do mine.

Mega Marines Gung Ho is awesome too. I think the accelerator suits have loads of potential for recreating RAH armored guys. Any plans for Mirage or Blast Off?

I tried Viper legs on my Wet Suit but it felt off, the feet swap will probably do the trick. Did Rock n' Roll's arms match the face's skin tone exactly or did you have to do some painting?

The Airborne head works great for Ripcord, so much cooler than the Red Star/John Wayne/grandpa head he comes with.

The comic Rock n Roll arms are a dead on match for the skintone. For Wetsuit's lower legs, I only used the Knee from a Viper, the rest is still the original leg. I used boil and pop to get the knees out, then again to pop the pins back in.

Mega Marines Gung Ho for the win! That thing is awesome. I would buy that. The others are only okay in comparison. :) The Kamakura is nice.
