It's a great custom PN forget Jay's mis-informed comments. Decals can be bought from CobraStickers they do Red Shadow sheets as well hopefully the right size for figures.

to be fair to Jay I think he knows BAF isnt fanfic, he just doesnt remember Red TAKO

in the comic RED VULTURE, RED WOLF, RED LASER, RED SULTAN, etc are sometimes called out without the RED in front of their name just like BLACK MAJOR isnt always called BLACK MAJOR but sometimes Major

Red isnt always used infront of the animal names and Jay just isnt that familiar OBVIOUSLY with the red shadows or Action Force as he is with the mainline GI JOE product from the USA

I have been to BFTB. I have read the comics. I am familiar with the characters and fiction. I've even posted on the BFTB message boards.

Tako is just a very forgettable character, and the Red prefix threw me off since none of the fiction-only Shads use it (see: Nightmare, Sultan). It doesn't help making him memorable that Red Laser alternates between calling him "Tako" and "Octopus" (even if they're the same word in different languages).


Well, sorry Jamar, I've read some of these comics for fun and didn't bother memorizing every little thing about them for future reference.
A one-page goon using a different name and outfit from the one seen on the custom is bound to confuse some. Tako/Octopus wore a wet-suit identical to a Q-Force uniform, as you can see here when Dolphin-disguised-as-Tako is shown to match Q-Force's own colors.

And again... Sultan wasn't Red Sultan. I am familiar with the BAF fiction. And in the actual BAF fiction, datafiles, etc., neither Tako/Octopus or Sultan ever used the names "Red Tako" or "Red Sultan", no more than Nightmare went by "Red Nightmare". Your fanon is not canon.

It's not hard to get to know the character.

Everything there is to know about him is right there in black and white and an occasional dash of color in Operation Sealion (which I'd read before and have read again for the purposes of this discussion). He's seen on one page and mentionned in passing on two others.

You show me, Jamar. Where in this or any other Battle Action Force tale is Tako/Octopus ever called "Red Tako"?
As I've said, your fanon is not canon. You're welcome to your own personal interpretations, as is everyone else, but as far as the actual facts, the actual story itself goes... Red Laser's diver was called Tako and Octopus only.

I like the upper portion of the custom a lot, but the baggy pants just don't work for a diver, IMO. I know the Torpedo legs would look shrimpy on him, but maybe something a bit more streamlined?

Red Tako, or Tako?

Who cares, If I slap an Airborne head on an 83 Cobra trooper and say its George Talltree, Airbornes long lost evil twin brother, then in fact it is. Now, being all upset that a character in a couple panels of 20-30 year old comic got the prefix Red added to his name for a custom, doesn't make a lot of sense. Seems like you are just looking for stuff to argue with people about.

Let's see... Red Scream, Red Tako, Wilder Vaugh the Black Major, Dela Eden, Artur Kulik, Skeletron, Red Vulture. Seven so far. I still can't come up with a design for Baron Ironblood that I like yet, but I'm working on it. I'm starting to mentally piece together a Red Laser figure, too.
