Hey guys.

Had some time and a load of spare parts on my hands this weekend, so I made a few Cobra army builders for fun.

First is one I've been trying to get a handle on for a while. Morays are my Eel squad leaders. I'd been using a Cobra Diver (for the large amount of red/crimson in the color scheme), but I really didn't like the white trim. So I repainted it, popped on a new head and hands and gave him a distinctive mask. Instant Moray.

Next up is a sort of reimagining of the Rock Viper. I liked the basic design of that figure, but not the color scheme. As it happened, Hasbro provided a figure i really liked the color scheme of but not the character. A little re-equip and dremeling of an Arctic Sc rap Iron head for a helmet and I had my Rock Viper.

Then came a little challenge for myself. Back during the custom celebration, I recommended making a SAW Viper for one of Sidewinder's build-a-TRU 5-pack challenges. This is essentially the recipe I had in mind. Turns out I had all the parts sitting around, doing nothing. So I slapped them together and put some paint on them.

Finally, a figure I'd been thinking about making for a long time. I know the Joes beat "Strike First" and that Sherry Wingfield put a bullet in her husband's back, but since Vance was all about survival, I figure he got better. A few surgeries and some intensive training later and I imagine Vance and First Strike would be back, annoying as ever. This is how I figure he'd look.

How do you guys think these turned out?

Hasbro's announced a classic-style SAW-Viper for next year.

Anyone know how we can pass along Spin's take on the SAW-Viper to the design team so we can be sure they do it right? :-P

These are all really cool, but the Vance fig is really sweet!

Moray is a good switch from the regular figure. At least it makes sense as a transitional figure between Cobra diver and Eel.

Rock Viper isn't bad. I'm just not buying that helmet for him. All I see is a teenage Scrap Iron.

Saw Viper looks great. I don't really care for the original Saw Viper and I like this.

Winfield is pretty good. If Outback was more widely available he'd be a shoe in for a full Hasbro version of this figure.

really digging on Vance, great idea to use make such an obscure fig. I totally forgot about his training terrorist early days. now ya need to do the DDP take on him.

Glad you guys enjoyed these.

I didn't realize Vance had been revisited in comic continuity. Did they go all robo-extremist with him?

Rock Viper needs a 'stache and a green visor :-D

You know, I thought about that green visor thing. I wonder if that would distinguish the figure more from the Scrap Iron head?

I think Vance reappeared as some sort of Bond villain wannabe in America's Elite. He was crippled and on oxygen in an underground lair, crashing satellites for revenge.
