I normally build models so this will be my first real attempt at a true 1:18 custom. The Power Team Elite tank is just different enough for me to represent it as a different model tank than an Abrams due to it being slightly smaller compared to my Target M1A1 Abrams. I have decals enroute by male and I hope to get this done over the holiday weekend. So to start off here is the victim.

I am going to be using these drums below as auxillary tanks similar to those found on Desert Challenger Tanks.

Upper hull removed:

I am going to drill out the coax gun and fill the seams on the barrel.

Image

I will be adding detail to the gunners site using plastic sheet.

Image

Here's something interesting. I believe the tank was intended to be electronic, or least have electronic sounds. The right "vent" on the front is actually not molded in. I removed the screws from it and the panel. I am gong to try to do something "interesting" with it. Open to ideas. Another hint of intended electronics is there are also slits that look like a speaker grill on the drivers hatch.

The only place you could find them is at Big Lots.

I'm sure it was never intended to have electronics. None of the PTE stuff has any electronics.

Whoah that looks good, I hope yours turns out as good. Actually all my Abrams are in desert tan except for 1 in UN white (it was an experiment). I have not had courage, or the airbrush, to tackle camo.LOL A great site goto for advice is Fine Scale Modeler. Those guys have helped me out alot. Well I have been working my but off over the the holiday weekend . All I am really lacking is the decals which I ordered just over a week ago...

Drilled out coax gun.

Size comparison with Target's Bravo Team Abrams.

In homage to the origianl CAT/Mobat I added a targerting do hicky to the side of the barrel made from a left over head light from an old custom Monte Carlo car model.

Okay my decals finally came in. I am still undecided on some of the placement of them but did know where my "cobra emblems" would go. But what i want opinions on is hould i keep the optional site missile launcher combo. The missile will eventually be painted red similar to teh stinger. Are the missiles too much?

It's made from a Scope Dog mech head and missiles from an old Revell Robotech kit.

I think the missile launcher isn't too much. In fact it looks cute.

...oh wait. :)

You just call my grand engine of destruction "CUTE"?!!!!
LOL
I am going to have to make a lense or use a marble to fill the hole in the center of the missile launcher. Going for a M1A2 kinda look.

Its good. Things like the targeting device on the barrel and the headlights do a great job of improving the base vehicle. I think its headed in the right direction. A super bounce ball from a gumball machine might help fill the missile radar dome better.

Actually I added alot of little details on teh gun mantle, where i plan to add a grenade launcher barrel like you see on hummvees, I added sheild doors to the commanders sight, and i have another detail plate i am adding to the rear engine cover to create more detail. These bits were leftovers from a 1:32 scale Bradley IFV. It is really a nice tank but when you place it beside Target's bravo Team tank it just doesn;t compair detail wise and scale wise. In order for it to fit in my collection I needed to make it and "experimental" Cobra tank as an excuse for the size diffence between the two.

Though you can't see it cleary in this pic I also added an armored flap on the commanders site ( the square box just in front of the figures position).

Looks great, I love the additions. Really just a personal preference thing that doesn't matter all that much, but it doesn't strike me as a CAT. Not enough, you know, crimson. It DOES, however, seem like a terrific update to the Canadian Consumer Distributing Motorized Tank:

Honestly that's what i based it on. I knew that a Cobra MOBATexisted, and Ialways thought it was blue for some reason, and about 2 weeks ago while doing research I ran across that page for the first time and it inspired the conversion. The CAT II was too red and I wasn't crazy about the red placement on the CAT I. So I went with the Canadian paint sceme and cat CAT I decals. Technically when I am done I am going to call it the C.A.T. Mk 3 "Panther". It's smaller and more nimble than an Abrams...and it's black. "Canadian Consumer Distributing Motorized Tank" doesn't exactly roll off the tongue but technically you are right that is what it is.lol
