How does the arrestor hook from the USS Flagg attach to the Skystriker?
I'm assuming it's an arrestor hook, or is it a tow hook for the little fuel vehicle?
I'm refering to the yellow hook, a couple inches long, shaped like a squared off "Y" or a very tall, narrow American footbal field goal post.

Yes, it is an arrestor hook, but I don't know how it fits the Skystriker. Never had one (Skystriker) as a kid, but I did have a Conquest and the hook fits onto the rear wheels.

The prongs of the "y" fit under the (permanently raised) air brake between the tailfins of the skystriker.

If you notice, there are some "teeth" on the prongs of the "Y"...those fit over some ridges molded into the plane body beneath the air brake, to help secure it.

here's my question: do you think they designed that part of the Skystriker, knowing someday they'd be releasing the Flagg, and would need that arrestor hook?

I've often wondered that, but in the end, I concluded that they didn't. I think the hook was designed to fit the existing features of the plane.

I can, though, see them adjusting the Conquest design to fit the hook. Thanks for the tip there, Matt...never knew it would fit the conquest landing gear.

One other neat little design feature is that the Yellow Tow Motor from the Flagg can tow a Sky Striker. The white connector that usualy tows the fuel cart, also fits inside of the front screw hole on the Sky Striker.

Yep, the round notches on the arrestor hook will fit around the "axles" of the Conquest back wheels

Ho Lee Crap. I'm almost tempted to ask my boss if I can take the rest of the day off so I can try this like now.

Yes! Seems like it doesn't work on the Conquest, because the hole for the screw isn't deep enough.

I would kill to see photos of the Skystriker being towed, as well as having the arrestor hook installed.

But more importantly, I REALLY would like to see the arrestor hook attached to the Conquest X-30. I did not think it was possible.

Well shoot. It adds a whole new level of functionality.

I remember getting my Flagg as a kid, and I had a beat up Skystriker and a newer Conquest and I remember being so disappointed that I couldn't put the hook on the Conquest.

This totally pays for 23 years of disappointment.
