True. It's a little big but I guess it could work. It's 20" wide by about 10" tall. I do figure on doing some wall hanging G.I.Joe type shelves. Something that would work with all 3 3/4" - 4" figures. This is part of the large scale shelves that's coming out. Something else that CJack will be announcing soon too will go with these.

My t-shirt shop has killed me the past 2 weeks. I had to go in today to wrap up a 300 piece order. But anyway, I think I'm back caught up and the mentioned items will be shipping this week if all goes as it should.

Just wondering if I was still on your list to get one of the Cobra Bases? LMK.

Yep you are. I got a master list I save that's printed out as well as the digital one.

I've been getting a fair amount of emails asking when their base might be ready, so I figure it's time for a new update. I'm hard at work trying to get things done. Most everyone on JoeCustoms has been great about accepting the timeframe, but others that are not members here are getting a little anxious. I do try and point out that I post here and only here at JoeCustoms and I do provide updates so here's a new update...

I had some stall out time due to trying to figure out the best way to get the "build it yourself" version ready. It sounds simple enough that I could just cut them out and send them. Well it's not. There are many little things I do as I build to correct certain "flaws" that may happen when gluing everything together. Due to that I had to try and anticipate those points to make the parts fully ready. I also had to change some things in my instructions that will be included. Originally I wanted to predrill all the holes where brads are inserts for extra strength. I can't do that however since the angles may change with the pieces that require it when those parts are glued. So I had to rephrase it to explain where and how to drill the holes.

I'm about to ship the first 2 unbuilt bases finally. I have some Pit sets and display backgrounds going out too. Finally from there I should be back on track cutting out bases and shipping again. I may go ahead and jump ahead on the list for the unbuilt ones to get them out asap. That way I don't get held up on the built ones... until another unbuilt order comes in. I think the unbuilt orders will slow down a lot when people get them and start posting about how "fun" it is to build, hehe. I remember the very first one I cut out. Looking at it was a little intimidating.

But I wanted to post the first page of the instructions that will be shipped for those to see. I won't post all instructions online. It's a printed instruction book everyone will get. It's 8 pages total.

Here we go again! I keep doing update posts and then something F's me up and I get way behind. As of right now I have a vision in site of what I'm doing.

I have several items finished. Most of which are Pit Sets. I'm finally out of Christmas season and beyond working on the Bases and such, it's just cleaning up my business to get it back up and running from the fire. I just set out updates to everyone with current orders so if you have an order in you've already heard this. I had been putting stuff out already still, but just very slowly. I'm bumping production back up where it was before everything went bad. Back to where production was at the last update.

Now that email I did say I will not be adding anything new until I get caught up. I won't be, but I had been bouncing an idea around in my head. I threw something together just to get the idea and it will be an item added as soon as possible. It'll be added along with the He-Man display. That He-Man display will also have 2 other alternate backgrounds beyond the one that's been shown. As for the clip, here's a preview:

Image

There's 2 clips shown there. One has a "doll stand" style holder that perfectly fits He-Man and other 6" scale figures. The other just has a peg which I'm using to try and figure out the best thing to make. My goal eventually will be so that these clips will work for any scale figure. But again that's later. This is just a JoeCustom exclusive preview of something that'll be added eventually.

Anyway, that's where we're at. I'm still hammering these out and with luck it'll stay at a better production level than it's been. Look for your email soon about shipping schedulei f you have an order in!

I still also need some PMs from those that got the original ping pong tables with the net too high so I can make you new ones. I forget who it was.

Just thought Id throw this in:

I was out at Joes house about 5-6 weeks ago, and he showed me these bases, and his entire production set up. Everyone can rest assured that these things are HIGH QUALITY, and truly awesome to behold. The are a billion times better than the originals, and will outlast them easily.

Over 150 crates in the last 2 weeks! Yeah I've been at it to get caught up. I figure an update was due again. I've come to realize I just can't fight it. I've gotten bronchitus back to back 3 times, the fire at my shop, and a whole list of other things. I had been trying to fight and keep things going but I'm making more progress really by just going with the flow. When something happens, rather than trying to force the time to work on the projects, I just go ahead and not do it. Trying to making time allow me the ability seems to delay me by more than a month. Just giving in like it seems to want me to do does seem to cut that month down to a week delay.

So yeah I'm shipping out the remaining Pit Orders this week (though another just came in as I am typing this). I have all background orders up to date. The Cobra Base is the only thing still behind, but I just shipped out a batch of 6. I am working on a batch of 12 right now that should be shipping soon. Once those ship I'll have 12 more going right behind it. I'm still trying to get as close to up to date as possible by May.

I should be adding the He-Man display shelves fairly soon. I've been getting emails asking when they'll go up. I had been trying to decide a price and such. They'll end up being $24 in the standard size, and bigger ones will add about $2 per each size increase. That'll make sense when I put them on the page.

Finally I've been playing with some mini display items. I don't think I'll be doing these as something to order like the regular displays, but I might make a "1 of a kind" section for this stuff. It's all just random ideas for displaying a range of figures. Here's a couple of shots for some items I did:

They're mostly for people that want small displays that'll fit in anywhere and not have to spend a lot. They'll range from $.80 to $2.00 depending on the size and what all is in the display. Like I said, they'll be just random when I get an idea and have extra plastic to use.

Anyway, that's where I am right now and I wanted to give the update while I can. I'll update again probably when the He-Man shelves go up.

Normally when I do updates I end up doing them on Sunday. Since tomorrow is Easter, I'll do this one tonight.

COBRA BASE
------------------------
I'll start with the Cobra Base. Yeah I'm still behind and still keeping on going. It's a huge list. I've of course had some more delays that's set me back a bit. I have an aunt that we just found out has cancer and has been on and off staying with us. It cuts my work time down sfor various reasons. But anyway I've shipped a couple out and will be shipping more out shortly.

MASTER SHELVES
------------------------
Next up is the display for the He-Man figures. I went a head and added it to the site. I've been getting a lot of emails asking about them and I may as well do it. Making these shelves is far different than the Cobra Base so I can get them out a little easier. Here's the link for finding those: http://djtoys.muchtobuy.com/large_backgrounds.html

HALL OF ARMOR
------------------------
Next up is an item that we all owe JBYRDD thanks for the idea. He'll be getting a free shelf for it. This display is the Hall of Armor for Iron Man. With so many new figures and the previous ones, it's something I had actually gave a little thought to before. I just didn't exactly think in terms of a display shelf. I was more thinking about something else, but this really works better.

It will be like the He-Man shelf with slots in the back to allow them to be hung anywhere. I went with a simple count of 6 since it'll get too wide if I go any further plus that allows a display of the Mark 1 - 6 from the movie. I'll also offer the bigger size for the Legends class figures as well as the 4" scale version. I haven't finalized the idea of having 6 slots for the larger figures or not yet. Mostly not only due to size but also cost.

The image on the page is just a Photoshop mock-up. I'll have an actual shelf made soon with some shots. The graphic I used also is my own design using a little bit of elements from the new movie, the comics, and other sources. It borrows mostly from the new movie. You can find it here: http://djtoys.muchtobuy.com/preview.html

As always, let me know what you think!

Re: Hall of Armor for the 6" figures I'd go with 3 or 4 across but no more. 4 would allow for the 4 armors (1-3 & Monger) from the first movie to be displayed or to show the Mark 1-4 as seen in the second movie. 6 would either be too long or have them cramped if you kept the size down. Plus you might sell more if you can only display 4 at a time :shifty:

Yeah what I want to be able to do is offer the 2 sizes for the same price if at all possible, so dropping 2 spots might actually allow it to be the same amount of plastic being used. That'll keep the cost the same.

The one for the 4" figures is 5" x 20" on the backdrop and 3" x 20" on the floor. The larger one would be 7" tall and would bump the width to 28" left as is. Dropping the 2 slots I think will put it around 18" wide. Somewhere around there anyway.

The ones I put up will work with the original, 200x, and Classics. Any smaller figure can technically work, but they'd look like figures in the land of giants, hehe. But really, since back in those times the door ways were built huge, I guess it can go along with that.

I like the hall of armor. How much more would wall divides be in between each figure spot. Not only would that be more movie accurate it would also prevent one figure from falling over and taking out the rest? http://marvel.com/i/content/8914474871_full8366249.jpg

Well I think what would be the issue is the plastic I use is white, so that would mean painting or a wrap around sticker. I guess I could offer it both ways along with the 6" version so that people not wanting to spend the extra could still get the flat stock version. I'd have to see how much extra plastic is used to get an accurate price. I wouldn't think it would add no more than $5 to $8 though.
