Well I've been on this Thor hammer kick and this what I have so far.

After posting the Thunderstrike Mace my wife looked at it and made a remark about it's shape and it drove me crazy so I had to attempt another.
This one she approves. The one on your right is the new one.
I added some wip pics to give you an idea of how I made it.

I also attempted to make a Beta Ray Bill Hammer. I tried two different sculpting methods and I think they turned out ok . The two methods were free hand sculpting and making shapes and assembling them.

The paint jobs have me completely flustered and maybe if I have them cast I'll smooth out the ripples from the multiple attempts and different paints I tried and repaint them.

I've been trying to find different Thor hammers online with some success.

The hammer with the flat disk on the front and spike is from a Thor 2099. I did not have the greatest reference pics for it and interpreted it to look this way.Image

The big chunky hammer with the bone is from a Pic I found claiming to be a movie concept picture. I don't know if it really is but I thought the hammer was cool.

Lastly, I included a picture of the Ultimate Thor Hammer I made a couple of weeks ago.

I'd love to hear your comments and suggestions.

Also, If you have any pictures of Thor hammers I'd be interested in seeing them.

Thanks
Joe

The only hammer I can think of that you're missing is the long handled one from Liefeld's Heroes Reborn design. Oh, and Ultimate Thor, Image which isn't too far off from Beta Ray Bill's.

Those are all looking awesome though.

thats neat you are making weapons, I'd assume it would be harder to make them than custom figs, all look great and you should get them cast

It's not so much that's it harder but more that it's so different. Customs are looking past the part for what it is, to make it what you want it to be.
With sculpting you need to make what you see from scratch. To make a part you know exists and can see in your hand even though it's not really there.
It's hard to explain.

You know... i was thinking the same thing. I was pondering getting them both on a conference call and then just sitting back.

Joe,

I know your sculpts here would work great with what Sean is doing on http://hunterartworks.ecrater.com/

I know that I would love to have some of these for my Thor Corps...or whatever it should be called.

I don't know if you want to stray from the comics but there is also the symbol from the Church of Thor.
