I decided to do a foreign military unit member who is on loan to the Joes, just like Big Ben and the October Guard members who have helped them in the past. This is Australia's Special Air Service Regiment member Taz, as in Tasmanian Devil... and he is as ornery as his name sake! So without further ado, I give you Taz:

As always, let me know what you think of this figure, whether good or bad... I don't want to keep posting if everyone thinks the customs stink... ;)

Ah, yes... The dreaded "Gung-Ho" arms. If you look closely, it is his torso, too. I was trying to make a custom out of parts that were in my spare parts bin, without having to tear any other figures apart to make it... This was the result. Besides, it is only the upper arms that stink, the lower arms only slightly reek...

What a gem you made out of crap parts.

Camo work is perfect.

I would never have noticed the GH parts unless they were pointed out. Great custom.

The only critique I have is the camoflauge.

You did a great job on the camoflauge, but it looks like standard generic woodland camo.

Since the character is specifically from Australia, it would've been cool to put him in Australian camofluage, to make his foreign nationality easily recognizable, and part of his unique look.

Here are a couple examples of Australian camoflauge.

I can not tell if the custom stinks, there is no odor function with computer technology yet. The paint aps are incredible and the whole design is wicked. keep up the good work. If the figure smells bad, only you will know.

That's the only issue I had too. Unless I read the description, I wouldn't know he was Aussie.

Maybe a unit crest on the arm, a patch, or something visually interesting?

(Hmmm...a crest with the Sydney Opera House profile would be neat...)

Yeah, an Aussie flag on the upper arm would drive home that he is an international team member.

Thanks for pointing this out, as I knew the camo was not right, but was thinking that the SASR and British SAS wore similar camo; I was way off. I should have referred to the BBI 12" Sean O'Bannon (which I used to have, which makes it all the more embarrassing  ). Maybe the Joes loaned him a US BDU while his was in the laundry? :whistling:

Diggin' the camo work - very tight and clean. Wish I could do mine like that.

And I don't have an issue with it not being Aussie-camo. I see that stuff every day and it's annoying :P -- Besides, Spec Ops types generally don't wear standard camo, anyway.

If you did want to make him uniquely Australian I'd go with the Aussie flag like Falcone suggested - also maybe do an alternate, unmasked head with an Aussie-style boonie cap or something. Maybe a Wolverine Origins Logan head (I hear tell Hugh Jackman's Australian) ;)

Awesome work - and I wouldn't even have noticed those turd arms if Tim hadn't mentioned it - the camo job is that good :D
