There will be a 4" assortment of figures which will include 12 points of articulation and character specific accessories. All figures will fit with the horse boxed sets and play sets wich will be sold separately.

Doesn't look like him, but seems like it'll have good fodder parts.

Oh just great....do you know how hard it is to make gilt domed ceilings and rooves?

At least I made a scratch built template for Arabian styled archways.

Doesn't McFarlane know that supplying gaming figures to a customizer is like putting crack in a baby's formula? He's enabling right at the point most vulnerable.

What is weird is that the 4" inch figures look more detailed and posable than the 6" statues. I would have expected the opposite from them. Maybe the accessories and playsets made the articulation a necessity. Based on the pics I'm guessing the 12 points of articulation are, ball jointed necks, cut shoulders, peg and swivel elbows, cut wrists, cut waist, ball jointed hips, cut boots. I just hope they hold up better than the Halo figures.

Hooray for more fodder! I just hope the heads aren't too out of scale.

I'm also tentatively hoping that these and the new 4in Sportspicks mean that McFarlane may start doing cool mini playsets again like the first two waves of the Monsters line, and the Spawn Movie mini sets. Those were super badass.

I'm not digging that Jake Gyenhall fig, or him being the Prince either.

The Arab dudes look cool IMO.

It has its share of gimmics to make it a playset, but they seem to be fairly well hidden if you arent using them.

It is still a bit much at $19.99.
The figures aren't bad at all. I'm actually surprised this came from McFarlane.

I posted this on fwoosh back before I got greenlit to return here. I've tweaked him by pulling his sashbelt up over the Deep Six belt and he looks much better. I've since bashed Setam onto a Rex body, but haven't done anything with Zolm yet. I'll likely use Dastan as Sinbad and make him an avatar of the Eternal Champion along with Elric, Hawkman, and Ash Williams.

I'm sure I'll get the Target exclusive, but I'll have to wait until I figure out what head I want to put on him because - in a line with only 4 figs in it - I sure as hell ain't gonna have two of them be the same dude.

Quote:
I monkeyed with Dastan tonight, bashing him onto a RoC Deep Six fig to get the better artic. I chose D6 specifically for the black bodysuit and the lankiness likely fitting into the Dastan fig's bits better. The fig came out a bit longer in the torso than I would've preferred, but it's an artifact of the long D6 abdomen as I've got the Dastan chest pretty much as far down as it can go without interfering with the shoulder pegs fitting in the chest. He's now about half a head taller than he was and Joes are, about equal with an IM fig, and about half a head shorter than MU Piledriver.
Image

I cut the Dastan fig across the belly between the first and second 'belts' as that's about where a Joe's moob joint cuts. The bottom pair of belts I hollowed out into a ring to slip onto the D6 abdomen, while Dasty's sash belt is already a separate piece that fits D6 no problem at all. Then I cut the chest in two to drill out the T- socket for the plug coming up out of D6's abdomen, and a crater at the bottom of Dasty's chest to fit the D6 'abdomen ball'. I cut backwards at the seam where the back of the neck meets the vest, instead of cutting the neck in two and possibly ruining the neck socket joint. It also provides a fitting surface to ensure I get the two halves back together properly instead of being just a hair off each other. Hopefully the pic says it better than my words do.
Image

Lastly, I gave his sword an MU Torch/Iron Fist flame effect, and an old-ass dollhouse rug acces

sory as a flying carpet. I think I'm gonna try to glue it to a place of styrene, then put some black cloth on the bottom of it all, with maybe a rigged-up foot peg sticking up thru the top for him to stand and fly on properly.

Awesome dissection Adrien, very informative indeed. Let's me know right away if it is worth mixing and mashing SW parts and the like.

With the new Robin Hood coming out tomorrow, I think I will canvass all my BBI and Elite Force heads and see if I can turn the one D gave me into the new Robin Hood. I have enough micro leather accents to furnish the yoke and mantle, as well as bow and arrows for him. Just have to find the right head.

I saw the Target Exclusive yesterday. Looks like it might be worth it for an enchanting or magical custom figure.

You're welcome. It's pretty much the exact method I use to Joeticulate SW figs as well, altho the older 'two hard shells' torsoed figs aren't workable similarly.

Here you can see the difference simply moving the sash belt up over the D6 belt makes for Dastan. He's still got long proportions, but it's spread out more evenly over both his legs and torso instead of being all in his torso, imho. For Setam I took the route of simply carving all his distinctive elements off and pasting them onto the Rex body. I want to look for some black lace to replace his plastic cape since those universally suck, imho.

I glued a piece of window plastic from one of the TRU 6packs of olde to the bottom of the carpet, then drilled li'l holes for some footpegs thru, then covered the whole bottom (thinking that since he's a 'stealth' guy that a flying carpet should be black in case anyone looks up at night). It's strong enough to stay stiff with two dudes flying on it, but flexible enough to feel like hardened fabric should (whatever the hell that means, right?).

Love the work on the Dastan figure.
I agree that moving the sash belt up, made a big difference. The "long-torso syndrome" is almost completely un-noticable now.

Very cool job with the flying carpet, too.

I may have to pick some of these up, now.

Thanks, G-D. Definitely pick up the Warrior Dastan at the very least (and at TRU if you can as he's a buck cheaper than at Target). It's a great fig even right out of the package and doesn't really require any mods to be cool. I'm just anal about needing a fig to be able to sit down to qualify as a real action figure.
