RATEEG ~ 25th Anniv SPIRIT

Good day peeps.
This is one of those projects that had been lying for years on my bin that hasn't got me in any way to finish, glad i took time yesterday. I haven't seen much 80's looking Spirit custom so i was into making one.

Spirit is one of my favorite characters in the 80's cartoon series besides Zartan and Scarlett.
Wanted to have a good figure of him and i was glad hasbro brought us a good figure.

This is basically a 25th Anniv Spirit with re-tooled costume and accesories, resculpted chin and lips, and a full repaint.

Anyways...

Forget action figures, that is a beautiful piece of artwork. Perfect blends and accentuations. You should add a tutorial of your methods to the wiki.

great work Rateeg. I always like seeing texture added to figures. Really helps distinguish different types of clothe and what not.

I agree the lips might be a bit too pink.

Anyhow, that turned out awesome, great painting as usual sir.

I would agree about the lips being a bit distracting or unnatural in appearance, but I guess that's the sort of nit-pick that you're going to get when you crank out quality repaints like this. :-)

I'm always impressed by you work. It always comes out looking like those static figurines that never fail to impress me with their detail and visual depth, rather than a fully articulated action figure. Truly outstanding work.

Thanks folks for the visit.
I decided to make the lips pinkish so it can be distinguished from the skin. I tried painting it like dark flesh and pale brown but it doesnt work in my opinion. Thanks for the crits, people.

I will be doing a basic drybrush and basic wash painting tutorial soon. I'd be putting it online so people can see.

By the way, here is the WIP of Spirit.

Great paint job on one of My top 5 favorite charactors of all time. I just wish gasneo gave us a better head for him that did not look like a caveman. Othe than that, I bow and chant "I'm not worthy. I'm not worthy."

I had to comment on this one because I went all ga-ga over the faces that you do. While I cannot stand that fugly spirit head, you did make it better (but I still hate the sculpt). I had to comment because of the paint ...damn...I love your style. That backpack is so freakin' awesome. If they had only sculpted a better head (POC Spirit is how it's done!!!)...and what the hell is with the 25th and the child-bearing hips? I had to change that up for the Gaggle project...

Great job, man...and that's saying a lot because it really is a flawed figure. Can't wait to see the next...think there is a Scarlett on here.
