Hey all,

So I loved the look of the new Resolute Roadblock when I first saw images, but the more protos I see on eBay and hi-res images that get shared by online retailers, the less I like him. I think it's a combination of things that are really pretty minor -- his skin tone is too dark, I think, and his kneepads should really match the metal trim on his boots.

I'll be getting one to judge in person when my Resolute 7-packs show up, but in the meantime I thought I'd try making one that was more my speed. Here's how that effort turned out.

And once I had this guy done, I realized I would never be able to see that vest accessory as belonging to any other character. So I mated my spare Wal-Mart Roady with a Night Adder to create a Night Force version of the big guy.

Here he is posed with the rest of the Joes I customized to be members of my Night Force.

What do you guys think?

I wasn't sure about the colors on the Resolute version. They might be accurate for the movie but they are really bright. Then you showed the Night Force version and it solidified my opinion that darker color tones would work better. Instead of lime green, olive drab and instead of chocolate milk brown pants how about chocolate pudding.

 I just realized all of my color references involve food. Must be snack time.

I like the resolute RB we are getting but the vest color needs toned down.
Your night force version is great too...of subject does your spirit have CS Snake eyes legs?

I think I agree about the green being too crayon boxy and will probably try to darken that up some. But my "too dark" ceit of the forthcoming figure was really just about his skin tone. I always saw Roadblock as lighter skinned than, say, Stalker and Heavy Duty.

As for the Spirit custom in the group shot, that's entirely a Target Rescue Mission SE body. I just painted the boot details to match the belt color (DTC belt, BTW). Ideally I'd have some 25th Spirit lower legs on him, but I can't find another 25th Spirit for what I'm willing to pay.

Thanks for taking the time to look and comment, guys.

I agree, the skin is a bit too dark for my favorite cook/machine gunner. I just got one of the test figures from China (with a brand on his forehead... :shifty: ), and I love the figure, but I wish they had a little continuity in the line of figures, using the same skin tone for any character, no matter which version of the figure they are making (PoC, Resolute, etc...). Anyway, great job on your figures!

Yeah as far as blackness of Joes goes, I'd put Stalker & Movie Heavy Duty ahead of Roadblock.

For me it's:

:doubleblast: < :iceberg: < :staticline: < Link < :bulletproof: < :colonelcourage: < :doc: < :hardball: < :reddog: < :alpine: < :balrog: < :stretcher: < :fridge: < :mrt: < :ripcord: < :biglob: < :roadblock4: < :heavyduty: < :stalker3:

Heavy Duty used to be lower down the blackness list before the movie & movie figures came out. Initially just had him kinda so-so high for the backwards hat in the 90's...but adding in the earring and played by the dude from blood diamonds...way up the list. And yeah I know Mr. T didn't have a Joe figure, but the joemoticon was there. And that's where I'd put him. Between the Fridge & Ripcord.

Link is for Dr. Talbot...he of no joemoticon :(
