I did a Jonah Hex awhile back and was pleased with it enough I guess. I went with the more cartoon look, with the really tore up face and bulging eye. However Being a big Hex fan and just having seen the film I wanted another crack at it. I'm alot happier this time around. I went with a more realistic subtle look on the scarring this time. I also added a more movie Hex wardrobe to the fig as well. So I guess you could say this is my movie Hex custom and the earlier is my comic Hex. Instead of sculpting the scarring this time I used a hot Knife and went to work(I guess its appropriate for the character hey?) let me know what ya think. I added a side by side pic of the two.

Don't know much about Jonah beyond what I've seen on the old Batman cartoon and his Justice League appearance and the movie, but they both look great to me. The scars came out well on the new head, he looks great!

This is a tough one. I really dig the head on the original, but the body on the second looks better.
Both are winners.

I cant even pick. They both look so great! The eyeball sticking out looks just like the old cartoon where I first seen this guy. They are both top notch in my book. How did you make such great looking scars? Sculpting?

Thanks man. As for the scarring the old Hex is all sculpting. It has the bulging eye, flap over the mouth and teeth. The newer one was done taking a knife, heating it with a flame, and carving and melting the face. Then a did a dry brush wash with a lighter flesh tone paint to make it stand out.

The head is cool on the first one, but I think the new one is a big improvement all around. Really neat idea using a hot knife to scar him up. Isn't that basically what happened to him in the new comic, in the flashback story where he was captured by Indians?

I like this 2.0 over the first one, with two small critiques:

1. one of the best/worst characteristics of this character is the 'teeth through the jaw' aspect -- i would have liked to have seen some of that (like in your first one)

2. i think you should have tried to remove the cobra symbol off his chest --

but overall, this custom rocks!

I love the head on the first one. Everything else on 2.0 is awesome. The only complaint I have is the head looks a little too . . . hapyy? for Jonah. The scarring is perfect just maybe need an angrier base head.

really like this version of hex more, maybe because it looks a little more realistic. im working on a movie-ish one too, and i know how hard it is to get the right snarl look on the face. anyway, really cool custom
