So I finally found an MU Archangel today. Not at all interested in the figure, but wanted the wings. My previous Angel custom was a little boring with its feathered wings, I'll admit. But I never liked the full-blown Apocalypse version of Warren either, so I figured I'd compromise:

Image

Head: JvC Blowtorch (modded)
Body: MU Torch
Wings: MU Archangel

And the real reason for shucking the feathers -- because Hawkman needed them back ;)

This is my 4th or 5th version - and I decided to go a different direction:

Image

Head/wings: Happy Meal(?) Hawkman (courtesy of gijoey)
Upper Body: MU Piledriver
Legs: MU Bulldozer

He's got a Katar Hol deco, but he's Carter Hall/Khufu -- I never liked the idea of Thangarians, etc, so he's totally a resurrected Egyptian Prince. But I liked the rugged look from the 90s, so I went with that. I figure since I'll never have a second set of decent wings to make a Hawkgirl, that she's just dead and Carter's wearing black because he's a tortured soul, yadda yadda....

He's also pretty big - I may shorten him just a tad - he shouldn't be bigger than Supes or Marvel, but I have no problem with him being the same size.

Then there's a guy that's taken me a year to get around to. He's not 100% comic-accurate, but he's as good as he's going to get considering that painting with yellow sucks balls:

Image

Head: DCIH Sinestro
Body: MU Havok
Hands: SDCC MU Namor

Lastly, inspired by the KickAss DVD I finally watched the other day, is Hit Girl (with her new mentors):

That's it for a while - cheers!

All of these are winners, Chief, but I especially like Hit Girl.

Can you post some close-ups of her?

Impressed again...

Great job all around. Good to see a fellow Hawkman fan. :-D He does look alot more Katar Hol over Carter though, but I liked Katar he was awesome in Hawkworld. I think the fig is awesome either way. Also really love the shazam, never saw that one, and the Hit Girl. What are the parts on that Capt. Marvel? Very nice batch here.

After seeing Kick Ass I want a Hit Girl custom. The only issue here is she looks like and older version. Nothing wrong with it tough.
Hawkman steals the show. Great looking figure. I wouldn't change the height. I'd make Superman taller!!

Awesome, Chief!

These all look really great. It's so cool that comic book inspired customs are getting so plentiful these days with all of the source material...I still remember the old days when comic book customs were painted and sanded vintage figures that never could quite capture the right look.

A whole different world these days. Yours are especially cool.

Justin

Hawkman is awesome. I wouldn't change a thing. I like him at a towering height. As for Supes, I know I keep saying it, but I never personally thought of him as a 6-6 plus hulk. He's a dude that gets his strength from sources other than his physique. Not saying he shouldn't look like a stud, just that he shouldn't look like a defensive end either, unless that is Clark Kent's new day job? lol

My point being, your Supes looks good - why does he need to be the tallest superhero in your set?

Sinestro looks production quality to me, as does Hal beside him. Remind me how you are making your emblems these days? They look flawless, as does the yellow paint.

And Hitgirl, yeah that's pretty damn cool. Haven't seen the movie yet, but watched the redband trailer for it and got a kick out of her.

Nice job on the customs. Your Hit Girl looks real good. What body did you use? I had to hack up a ROC Baroness to make mine, see Customizer Of The Month for July (the image is in the interview section).

Lol! Finally someone else who gets that. Superman does not have to be represented in the muscle bound fashion or height due to solar strength, but that being said DC stats have Supes at 6'3, Bats at 6'2 and Hawk at 6'1.

Supes is only about 6'4" in scale - so he's no taller than either of the dudes who played him in the movies. My point is not that he should be extra tall, but that Hawkman doesn't need to stand 6'6" compared to my other Justice League members.

BCost - Hit girl is totally a Liz Sherman fig from the Hellboy line. The figure was way too tiny to use for anything other than a 12-yr old girl - so she works perfect here. I may change the head out if I can find something younger-looking, but it'll be hard to find a head that fits properly. May just have to re-paint the eyes to make them bigger or something.

Thanks guys!

Really like the hawkman. What color/brand paint do you use for flesh? I'm working on a hawkman custom too but now you've given me wings envy!

Ehh, the scale on Hawkman doesn't bother me. In some art I've seen, he's towered over other JLAers.

How hard was it to work with that Liz fig?

Thanks guys -

The Wolverine head is actually a running change on the blue/yellow Wolverine that came with the Vision/Jean Grey/Warpath wave -- FAR less fugly than the original. Turned the worst Wolvie of the line into the best, IMO - I've seen quite a few out recently.

Hawkman just uses Citadel Dwarf Flesh with some "hair" dry-brushed over it.

Liz took no time at all - I boiled-n-popped her lower arms at the elbows and switched them with the ST fig and just added some paint - no real effort whatsoever.
