I’m not a big fan of how Snake Eyes looked in “The Rise of Cobra”. They obviously just used the Devils Due poster image to build the costume. I hate Snake Eyes’ mask having lips! It takes away some of the mystique of the look. I’ve always thought of his mask as a regular ninja mask with a visor over it. You can’t see Stormshadow’s lips through his mask, why should we see Snake Eyes lips? Anyway, being the nearly obsessive/compulsive that I am, I still wanted to see if I could pull off a more movie accurate Snake Eyes than what Hasbro gave us. To start, I obviously changed the lower legs to those of an ROC Cobra Commander. Why in the world were his BDU’s not bloused in the movie? This is my other big complaint with the ROC movie costume. It looks kinda dumb! At least Hasbro corrected this on the figure, although the boots were incredibly thick and not movie accurate. So once again, I was shooting for movie accurate and changed them.

Although the lower leg swap is the most obvious, this wasn’t as simple as that. I gave him a working holster and changed the dart launcher thingy on his left arm. At least I think it’s a dart launcher. I really have no idea. All I know is the sculpt sucked, and although a little bulky, my version is closer to the movie look.

So those were the obvious changes, but I also did some work to the head. I removed the visor, sanded it’s connection points flat, and sanded the nose and left side of the head a bit. I diminished the “ugh” factor of the nose and lips with a couple of thick coats of paint.

I did some updates to this figure. (Though I still did not repaint the sword!) The main thing was I modified the bandoleer and a 25th Stormshadow dagger to make his knife sheath work. I also reworked the visor connections and sunk them into the head, similar to the Paris Pursuit version. It makes the visor look much better because it doesn't stick out so much on the sides. I also painted those connections silver just like the movie costume. I also added 2 more coats of paint over the lips to diminish their appearance even more.

Comparison to the Hasbro ROC version:

I thought the thing on his left wrist was a computer that he used to type communications to whomever. Its referenced as such in one of the ROC novels (the prequel) and he types on it after the Joes get arrested in Paris before ducking down the alley and disappearing.

That's the lower one in the watch position.

The unbloused pants on Snake-eyes' costume in the film was Ray Park's idea. Ray Park is an expert martial artist and requires free range of motion for his martial art, Wushu. If the pants were bloused into his boots, there would be a restriction in his movements when he performs some of the maneuvers.

Your movie accurate Snake Eyes looks great, just wondering why Hasbro did not think about this.

That's odd, because if they are properly bloused they don't restrict movement.
