Hey all -

Been slowing down on the custom front - just not that motivated anymore, but I did manage to knock these [LASER BLAST] out this weekend in-between some other "real-life" projects.

I know JFAK uses his TFormers as Joe-built robots based on BAT tech, but mine are actually "avatars" of the Transformers themselves -- the Autobots/Deceptaloids left Earth to destroy some other planets with their endless battle, but Optimus & some others downloaded copies of their programs to smaller, non-transforming host bodies to help the Joes (and Cobra, unfortunately) in their struggles, blah blah blah....

So here we go:

Image

Just like with GI Joe, I was an avid Transformer comic reader but hated the cartoon. Especially in the different depictions of Grimlock. In the comics, he was a hard-ass and a capable leader, but in the 'toon he was just a bully who would lose to Forrest Gump in a battle of wits. Well, mine is much closer to the comic version - I don't need any "Me Grimlock" nonsense.
I'm really pleased with how he turned out.

Head - Grimlock
Body - Halo Mk IV fig
Sword - Chap Mei w/MU flames
Claw - Microman

Image

Bumblebee's pretty straight forward - I originally spray-painted yellow on the IM dive armor, but that proved to be a pain in the ass, so I scrapped that fig completely and started over using black & gold -- much better, IMO.

Head - Microman
Rest - IM Dive Armor

Finally, Megatron is a character I never cared about - although I did appreciate that he wasn't ever really portrayed as an incompetent boob (unlike just about every other evil leader) -- but I needed some bad guys, and until I can find a suitable head for a Shockwave, this is is for now.

Head - Megatron
Body - Halo Scout(?) (the blue one that came with the Mongoose)
Gun - ROC

Cheers!

That's really impressive. Especially cause its such out-of-the box thinking. I would never have looked at a human(oid) action figure and thought - I'm going to turn this into a Transformer that can fit in my Joe-verse. Blows my mind.

The autobots are neat, but that Megatron is just amazing.

These all look really great. Megatron is perfect. And I surpisingly love the ROC Cobra Commander with that repaint, and how he meshes with the Transformers look. Great job.

Thanks guys!

Strange that Megatron is getting so much love, considering that's my least favorite and the one I put the least effort into :P

If anyone has any suggestions for a (cheap & easily-obtained) compatible Shockwave-type head, I'd love to hear them --- I'm stumped.

A cheap shockwave you ask.....Go to KOTOYS.com (Maybe you can find something there).

Bumblebee is my favorite. I like the gold and black look for him as well as the smoothed out armor compared to the others.

I like where you are going with the crossover figures, but the above description really sells it for me. I can see that happening and it's a concept I can easily wrap my head around. Great idea.

This line continues to impress. Agree with most of the comments I've seen, including Bumblebee really standing out here, and that the new CC and Megatron look like a great team together. Maybe it's just the red torso on CC, I don't know.

I like the Avatar concept. We talked before about finding something about these that would actually "transform" though, and it's the one thing holding me back from stealing everything you and John have done so far. Still can't come up with any ideas for you or for me on that front, unless it's a transforming weapon or some such a thing.
