So I had this huge list of things I needed to do around the house this weekend. But instead, I watched a Futurama/Venture Bros marathon and worked on these guys:

Knew I had to do a Rambo ever since I saw the first pics of Spirit online. I tried to re-paint his head to make him look less like Spirit/Billy-from-Predator. And although he still maintains some distinct Native American features, I'm cool with it, since Rambo's Dad was supposed to be a Navajo anyway.

No interest in trying to integrate him into my Joe 'verse -- he's basically just for fun - like my Ralph Hinkley/Bill Maxwell customs.

Head/Bow/Quiver -- POC Spirit
Torso - cast MU Guardian (modded)
Arms - cast MU Wolverine (modded)
Legs - 25A Firefly

Then, after watching the Venture Bros episode where Brock goes camping and meets "Steve Sommers" and Bigfoot, I figured it was time to get off my ass and finally finish my Steve Austin custom (the thing's been a WIP for about 4 years now.)

Image

But honestly, I'm still not happy with the Lee Majors head. Even after modding the 70s haircut and re-painting the eyes a dozen times, it still looks too cartoony to me. -- Probably a result of the original sculpt - the eyes are uneven and that makes the painting difficult. But in the end, I decided to update Steve for 2010 with an entirely different head:

Image

(-- the flesh tone on the neck isn't so severely different from the head in person)

I was just going to do Steve in civvies, but when I decided to reject the Majors head, I knew I needed something iconic so people would know who he's supposed to be.

I also re-built Sasquatch -- his proportions were looking goofy to me in his original form:

Image

So I lengthened his arms & legs to give him some extra height and match the lengthened torso I gave him originally. Hard to believe he started out as an MLS Beast:

Image

So I'm considering him done now, finally. And he's the link between my Adventure Team and Steve Austin, so that works just fine :D

Finally, I decided to put the MU Dark Spider-Man/Venom figure to work for me:

Image

Had to mod the head a bit to allow for "eye-holes", but I'm pretty happy.

Need to find a way to give him an open-mouth snarl:

Image

Side-by-side with what's left of my original custom:

Cheers!

Man, is it me, or is that Airborn head just magnificently verssatile? These are keen, Danny boy. And I find it somewhat telling and more than a little sad that when I saw your thread title, I was surprised that you were making a Stone Cold custom. I feel ashamed.

Just curious... Did you use any Chewbacca parts in the Big Foot custom?

The rest are great, but I am really loving Austin and Big Foot

Lol - you should be ashamed - I stopped liking Wrasslin' back in 1986 - so there's only one Steve Austin in my universe. And now you know why I didn't have any time to work on my NJC customs ;-)

Bigfoot is just two MLS Beasts mashed together (double forearms, double waists stacked, etc.) with some Spidey 3 Green Goblin legs (the knees, anyway), a JLU John Stewart head, and an assload of Green Stuff.

Great work! Glad to see that I'm not the only one making Sasquatches.

wow, that rambo is awesome. I've been trying to come up with a good rambo since i started customizing, and all i've seen make him have fallen short. I really like yours though, even if i'd stick to joe parts. and the spawn is awesome best one i have ever seen. I've had that head set aside for an unmasked spawn since I saw the movie, now i know what body i want to use. do you know of any other figures that use the venom body, since it seems like that venom pack is sorta in demand? great update

nice stuff Dan, Rambo is perfect actually and yeah cast MU parts ..need to know
Spawn is great too, I was gonna use that base body for mine but didn't want to wait so long for it to come out.
Doing customs is more important that stuff aroundthe house sometimes..I did the same today, work on customs but I did go to the garbage dump :-D

Covering up the Beast's torso articulation point might have been necessary for your design, but it still shows what a horrible spot it is to put a cut line. Your version, which has no visible line, is so much better. Good work.

I like all of them, but that sasquatch is magnificent. I may have to try something similar.

They all look good Chief. Had to do a double take on Rambo after i read the head was from Spirit. I say you did a good job with repaint to make him look less Spirit like.

Awesome Rambo Chief. The scars are too cool. And very inspired to so quickly see that potential in the Spirit head. Might have to steal that idea for sure.

The sasquatch upgrade turned out great, and I love the link you now have there with Austin and the AT as well. For Austin, you know I prefer the Lee Majors cast head, but I'm old school like that ;)

always love seeing a big update from you.

Fantastic work all the way around, Chief.

You should use the Steve Austin and Bigfoot to do a sitcom dio called "I married a Sasquatch" and have Brock guest star.

;)

Dang! That Rambo alone is making me want to fish out the old game, and start going old school with it. He looks exactly like he does in the game. Oh, the Genesis days.

Spawn on tap. Incredible.

I thought Doc was a machine, cranking out over 200 customs for the queue. Looks like you're in the bionic zone too.

Incredible my friend.
