Ok, so I finally found a comic Iron Monger at Target today and was all excited to start chopping him up to make a decent-sized Hulkbuster Iron Man.

Then I got him home and discovered that he uses THE SAME MOLD as the shrimpy Hulkbuster we already got. :(

Image

He's got different lower legs, but it's his head that adds the slight amount of height. And it's not enough to bother with. It'd be easier just to try to increase the height on my existing Hulkbuster.

Hell, he's not even big enough to be a decent Iron Monger. Luckily, I've got that covered, though:

So instead of buying multiples for customs like I'd planned, I'm just sticking with this one - and there's only one thing it's really any good for:

Yeah, the pics are blurry - but I'm too pissed to care. And you get the idea, anyway ;)

I did not realize it was the same torso.

That is disappointing as I was jones-ing for this figure too. May have to make one like you did with the IM1 version. What are you using for the Gamma Chamber?

Actually, that IM1 version came like that (the re-issue was Cobra Blue :D )

-- The Gamma Chamber is acting as an alternate Venomization Chamber - I just slapped some paint on the glow-in-the-dark Hulk inside and figured it looked like it belonged in Mindbender's lab :D

That's some Microman light-up stasis chamber-thingy. Came with a nekkid bald chick - I can't remember the name. I got it on clearance from HobbyLink Japan or something.

Except that it's not, though. The size difference in the comic (at least on the cover) is WAY larger than between the toys - your picture shows that pretty clearly, IMO. The Monger fig isn't even a half-inch taller than the Iron Man fig - so only about 8 inches taller in-scale. In the comic, he appeared to be a foot or more taller (based on the pics of Stane standing next to the armor.)

It's close, but not close enough. Sure, I could pose my IM like he's taking a dump and that would make the Monger look bigger, but I'm not going to do that.

You know, that Iron Monger would make an excellent Apocalypse custom. Pretty much would only need another head.

If you say so, it looks pretty close to me. Not exact but very close.

Maybe if you 1UPed him he'd be closer to what he should be. He looks to be about 1 foot taller and quite a bit bigger sizewise.

I have one of these coming from HTS and was going to keep it stock. But after looking at it some more I got an epiphany and have the perfect use for it.
