so i would like to make a cable custom, but I'm not to familiar with comics. Would a winter soldier or a collosus be a better base. From what i know, collosus would be too big, but winter soldier too small.

Any help is appreciated

I don't see the point in trying a custom of a Marvel fig when there's an ongoing Marvel line that will *inevitably* have Cable in it, man. Wait for the fig and tweak it to your liking, I say. Work on characters that have zero chance of being made in good 18th scale in the mean time, like DCU characters.

But, if I were to try an MU Cable, I'd start with one of the Wrecking Crew bodies as the base. The lines on the left arm are easy to file in, so there's no need to feel you must get WS or Colossus just to get some grooves in there.

Yeah, I'd have to agree. Cable is no doubt going to probably happen soon. I figure we'll see him at Toy Fair in Feb. I'd wait for that then build around him to be what you want.

Characters I doubt we'll see any time soon if at all would be Dazzler, Longshot, Spider-Girl (the future one), and probably most of those characters from that timeline.

i have to say i dont agree with the others.....unless ur on a budget......if u wanna make a cable even though he is coming out eventually then go for it....i would however agree that the wrecking crew would make a good base to start with because they are pretty big guys with almost to no detail on them. they are tall guys lol...anyways as for the mech arm im sure u could get one anywhere....as u said colosus or winter soldier, also maybe WO maverick but im not sure how any of these arms will look in length next to others as i havent tried and only have the maverick mentioned....as for size cable has been depicted by most artists as a huge freeegin guy......so whatever u choose should work fine as long as you pay attention to the detail.....hed be better too big than too small and if my two cents is worth anything i like the hose on WS's arm for cable but u can add hoses to any arm lol.

I used a MLS Colossus arms and legs on MLS Thor body. He looks okay. The big concern with Cable customs is size and doing one flesh arm and one bionic arm.

You can kind of argue the "Why make one when an official one is assuredly coming" is true for nearly every active line.
I can see if one had been announced and you weren't happy with it so you decided to go ahead with your own. But Cable has been confirmed and it's arguably iffy if he'd come out anytime in the next year.
I say go for it!

You don't need to buy a whole second fig to get the mech-arm when it's really *not* a mech arm, it's just an arm with grooves in it. Just use the edge of a triangular file to 'saw' them in like I did on my Mundo-swiped Cable fig from a couple years ago. Took like 5 minutes total.:
