Is it advisable to use Testors DullCote or GlossCote in the spray can on an acrylic paint job? Can I seal and protect the paint job with it or is it going to mess it up?

Most folks use Dullcote over their paints so as long as you follow the instructions you shouldn't have any problems using it.

Personally I use a brush on clear coat but that's just me. A lot of people swear by Dullcote so you should be fine.

I use a flat or satin clear coat spray over vehicles. Brush on clear coat I use on figures.

I use Krylon's Matte or Clear Gloss sealer depending on what I am doing. Sometimes a light spray from about 9" away is good enough, but if there are accents that I don't want sealed, I will spray it in a paper cup(don't use the plastic Dixie cups as they will melt) and apply it with a flat brush.

i've had issues in the past with acrylic gloss and matte sealers & varnishes.

they work well on old ARAH type plastic, but have weird results with 25th+

lately i've got arms & legs on customs go from 'matte' to 'sticky glossy' --

somewhere along the line (might have been macgyver) was talking about using a watered-down modge podge or elmer's white glue -- i think i'm going to try and salvage some of my recent 25th customs by brushing on some of that --

let us know what you discover!

Ive had clear coat issues as well. At least two times Ive had it come out looking like that spray on snow on my figure. I never figured out why it did it, but I ended up having to sand down the whole figure and start over.. most heinous. So, I don't use it any longer.

What about on vehicles? Would the plastic make a difference, or am I looking at the same issues?
