Some follow-up thoughts. One, if you wanted the leg tie-down for the holster, you could simply add straps to the legs, but not directly connect them to the holsters. The look of tie downs would be there, but articulation would not be lost. It would be a compromise though, which right now you don't have to make.
Two, for a modest investment you could track down the Silver from the 1980s 1/18 Lone Ranger line. I am certain the horse would be too small for this figure, though it is possible that the saddle and bridle could be usable. I had both the larger scale Gabriel Lone Ranger figs as a kid, and the 3 and 3/4 inchers. They weren't the best articulated in the world, but fit in well with Star Wars at the time, and were actually more articulated than they were.
