This is something that I've been wanting to do for a while, well really ever since I saw the Hummer HX prototype for the first time. There has been talk on this board about using 1:18 scale vehicles for Joes, and while they do work, they also take a lot of work. The major problem that had to be solved here was the seats, which still sit a little higher than I would like, but they definitely get the job done.

I wanted to keep a large gun on the back, but was torn on whether or not to use a machine gun or a laser gun. I ultimately went with the laser gun to keep with the advance military tech that Joe was known for almost 30 years ago, but made sure to add a machine gun as well.

As always, let me know what you think!

Wow, that came out wonderfully. How's it size up to the original VAMP? Considerably larger or smaller...? It looks really close in size in the pictures.

Great concept, and just perfect technique.

I kind of wish you would have used the 25th vamp gun instead. The LAW looks a little too big and clunky. It kind of gives it a Spy troops or corps feel which isn't what I think you were going for. Love the stickers on that bad boy.

Chad bought one to make Cobra, but I don't think he'll ever get to it. If I can get another HX cheap I might consider it.

Fairly close. The body almost fits on an original VAMP's chasis. It's a little wider, a little longer, but quite a bit taller

The gun was really the hardest part about planning this vehicle. The 25th gun would be cool, that's for sure, but I really wanted to give it an updated look and something futuristic. Military lasers are now being used for defense, not offense, but you never know :D. It really was tough trying to find something that I thought would work here.

I think it's a little on the big side too, but it is seriously growing on me. I see the bulky lines of the vehicle itself and think it does work though.

Don't change it.

Awesome! I like this a lot. The gun does seem big but I think it works just as well. Your photos could be from a catalog, they're that good.

the paintwork is incredible. I bought one of those last year (the blue one) with big things in mind, but ended up selling it off. Just felt too small to me. But you've shown otherwise.

If you want another though, I just saw an all red one today at Sam's Club, along with a bunch of other Maisto 1:18 cars for $11 and change each.

Thanks. I was very pleased that it worked, but you have no idea how hard it was to find seats that looked good and fit. This one was actually made out of the red one that I bought at Sam's :D. I stripped all the paint and started fresh. I actually bought Chad the blue one, but don't think he'll ever get to work on his :D.

I may run by Sam's this week to see if they still have them.

Great job! If I were still doing large scale dios it would be a must steal for me although I doubt I could hit that level of detail!! Really great piece!

Now that's a good looking vehicle.

Those Hummer HX's are cool I saw them for 11.99 yesterday at Sam's Club. They have those in with their annual christmas 1/18th scale cars they get every year. They also have the Jeep wrangler.

Great job on the paint and small details. I normally go for a more traditional look on my assault vehicles, but like you stated, this is more of a modern or futuristic vehicle and the large laser cannon suits your custom-very cool vehicle indeed!
