I was talking with some other people from another message board about fixing my bbi Raziel figure. His scarf (banner with clan symbol) is molded plastic, so his head is immobile while he wears it. I'd like to make one out of cloth, but the scarf is a peanut butter color and the symbol is white, so I can't do a transfer. Is there a cheap way to get the white symbol onto the darker cloth?

Screen printing it on is the best way. But that's the easy option FOR ME. For you, print the logo out exactly to size that you want it, get you a piece of clear plexiglass. Lay the print out down and lay your cloth over it. shine a light behind everything and you'll see the image through the materail. Use fabric paint or markers to trace it on.

The other option is to print a transfer with the trasnfer paper for inkjet printers. Even if you have to print more than 1 sheet to get the size you want. Trim as close to the design as possible so you don't have a lot of glue around the logo. If you won't be washing it, it should hold up well.

You might be able do it with a rubber stamp and some fabric paint. That design doesn't look like it would be too hard to carve out. You could buy a real stamp kit ot go 'cheap and dirty' and carve it into a rubber eraser or even a soft wood block, and use regular acryilic craft paint (apple barrel, folk craft, etc...).
Heck, when I was I kid, I even used stamps made from potatos and other vegetables, with craft paint for fabric stamps. That's the really cheap and dirty meathod. ;)

Try this:

It's designed for larger projects, but I'm sure you can adapt it to a smaller piece.

That's a heck of a lot of work, but I guess if you don't have any other option...

The way it's done professionally is using a light sensitive chemical that you coat a screen with. You expose the screen with a machine using ultraviolet light. You use a film that can print in a laser printer and the black toner from the printer blocks out the light. The areas the light is blocked out get washed out with water once the screen is finished being exposed. It would be a lot easier to just use transfer paper if you are not going to be washing the item a number of times.

Here's a way that might work using the transfer. Use white cloth and a photo negative of the design with the peanut color. The white fabric will show through and the rest of it will be the peanut color you need. That would be how I would do it if painting it wasn't an option.

Avery makes an iron on transfer for inkjet printers(# 3279) that is now made for dark Tshirts. It states you can print even white and yellow backgrounds.

Oh, important, the directions are different than other Tshirt transfer instructions.
