We don't use flamethrowers anymore? Okay, so I don't follow real-world military technology all that closely, but why the heck NOT?
I think they still do. They just tend to be one-shot, disposable affairs, if I recall correctly, something along the lines of a LAW or AT4, making a dedicated flamethrower specialist a bit redundant.

Also, the Russians have many FAE type munitions.

I was going to go with fast draw. Wire guided misssiles? Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think those are used today ( if ever)

Fast Draw does not use wire guided...he uses fire and forget.....kinda like a mini-hellfire

For looks, Zandar, Zaranna and mohawk Zartan. Its all just too 80s punk.

Oh dear God, I'd forgotten about mohawk Zartan (certainly I've TRIED to). Most horrible rendition of the character EVER!

And Longarm in bright orange didn't work all that well in the 90's. The convention version a few years ago was astoundingly impressive!

Just the Helmet Fired Missile, and any characters firing such from fragile body parts.

Just sayin'.

9) Baroness

yeah I know this next statement may be blasphemous...

but has anyone else noticed that virtually EVERY other long term character in G.I.Joe has had multiple uniform changes ... EXCEPT her?
does she own ANY other clothing?

I mean, some characters have even changed their RACE and GENDER!!!!
baroness: "Hmmm, should I wear the skintight black leather, or the skintight blue leather?"
if it wasn't for Resolute, she would be come a cookie cutter character! Hell Chameleon was supposed to be a totally different character, and even SHE wore the same get-up!
at least make her in the arctic gear

The Baroness is the reason every item in the Victoria's Seceret Collection is availablie in BLACK.

I, for one, would happily buy a "vacationing in the Caribbean with her blood money" version of Baroness in a tiny pink bikini. Like in that one cartoon episode.... :baroness:
(Speedo Destro sold separately, thank God!)

I think that the characters would definitely translate, its the neon uniforms that are a bit of a tough sell.

As for man-portable flamethrowers, they're short ranged, heavy, awkward, and a potential danger to the operator and other soldiers near him.

I think guys like Airtight, BBQ, Toll Booth, Mainframe and Tripwire should be given good solid updates. the joe team concentrates heavy on the name takers, but the specialist could really use some love.

exactly.

Tollbooth is supposed to be the Joes Chief Military engineer but then why does he look like Sully, the guy who used to carry Oscar the Grouch around?

...and couldn't he come with more tools than just a hammer?

but would they get more "realistic" updates or more "unique character" updates?

I love the F-14 - it's still the only fighter in existence that can track 24 targets and fire on six targets simultaneously..

It's also the only plane ever made that can be equipped for both ground attack, and air superiority, in the same mission. Every other fighter bomber in existence has to do one role, return to base for rearming, then do the other role. The Supercat was also superior in just about every why to the current F-18 Superhornet. The Navy wanted the Supercats. The Superhornet never lived up to it's design criteria. The F-14 was killed for political reasons, not because it was in any way outmoded.

One upgrade that H did in the 25th line that I liked was what they did with Zap. Originally he came with an upgraded bazooka, his 25th version came with a SMAW. A weapon used in the same way as a bazooka, just with a better projectile, optics, etc.

Iceberg -That black face in the snow = target.

Stalker - Running around in pajamas and a beret = laughed at target. Ditto the arctic thing.

Roadblock - Ya know what, a giant guy with an earring and a strong love of cooking still has a place in today's army. We'll move on from there...

Gung Ho - gotta change the call name, women find it offensive. Also he can't register it on most message boards b/c of filters.

Deejay - needs a newer, goofier costume but still keep that same pink gun. Joes need a decoy.

Alpine - just needs new gear. Perfect mountain man.
I'd also add "Clay Moore". Yeah, he's not a "vintage" figure per se, but he might as well be.

I don't know if anyone already mentioned them or not, but I'd say Breaker & Dial-Tone, because to my knowledge the Military doesn't really have a designated "radio man" the way they did in Vietnam and then even in the 1980s.

The technology has shrunken down that big banana-pack that Dial-Tonbe wore to Bluetooth size comunicators that every soldier can wear in their ear (or at least on their wrists or cell phone sized).

So I just don't see how Dial Tone or Breaker would be needed in the field in the modern era.
