After meeting Les and getting his autograph and book, I was inspired to create a custom figure of him. I decided to place Les in an environment, woods.

Image

Les Stroud can survive in any terrain or environment and shows others how it is possible to survive where others think differently.

Parts:

Head- Indiana Jones with cloth doo rag
Torso and upper arms- ROC General Hawk
Lower arms- GI Joe soldier
Upper leg- Tunnel Rat
Lower legs- two right legs from Jungle Assault Duke and one left foot

Backpack- Snarl rider figure holster modified to hold axe

Environment- background printed out scene
ground- dirt mixed with elmers glue and water and spread out over base
Leanto- Army of Darkness wood pieces and cloth
Fire- AOD wood pieces and hot glue
River/brook- blue paint
Snakes- Spirit

I like it. The colors really pop. Plus the backdrop and dio really help sell it. Well done.

I'm sure Les would be happy with his 4" self.

I know I'm happy with my 4" self...wait, what? lol

I love the doo rag on this one. I need to see a close up before I believe you used an Indy head though - real nice job catching the right likeness here. I'd have known who it was immediately, even if you had not told us in advance.

I assure you that it was an Indiana Jones head. I spent hours carefully removing the hat, sculpting the head and hair with epoxy, only to cover it up with a piece of O.D. green cloth. I had to glue the cloth to the head because i could not tie a small knot. I am glad everyone likes it. I sent Les the pics via his FaceBook page, hopefully he likes it too.I might do Bear Grylls next, I just need to find a 1:18th scale bear and a grill.

Really dig how those parts fit together - especially with the way you painted the shirt(s). Very cool.
