Ok, I'm putting a reverse spin on Spectre's SW/Joe Universe. :P

I seem to remember somebody (was it here at JC?) posted a Bob A. Fett a year or two ago, but I can't find it to give them proper credit for the idea. Also, Narceron built a Mandalore fig that prompted me to put this guy in the "to-do" box :
http://www.joecustoms.com/board/showthr ... #pid431525

I was playing around with my 25A figs and put a Jango head on an SE body and got the idea to build my own.

Image

Backstory: Bob Fett was a childhood friend of Sebastian Bludd - the two met while the the Fett family (hailing from New Zealand) were vacationing in Sydney. As they grew up, they stayed close and both of the little bastards became soldiers for hire. Fett dabbles in experimental weaponry & armor, often providing goodies to his buddy Sebastian. After Wraith's mysterious disappearance, Bludd convinced Cobra Commander to hire on Fett full-time. Unlike his buddy Bludd however, Fett possesses a code of ethics and is actually quite honorable - to a point. He refuses to harm non-combatants, but will do most anything else if the price is right. For most missions he sports his own home-made battle suit and jetpack, modeled after a little-known sci-fi character from his youth. Although scarred and rather junky-looking, the armor is quite effective - Fett merely leaves the "battle scars" on the armor to demonstrate his battle prowess, yadda yadda yadda.... :P

Bob here was mostly a cobbling of spare 25A parts that I think looked right: SnakeEyes torso/arms, Gung-Ho legs, Deluxe Jango armor. The GH thighs look HUGE on the SE waist, but the belt hides that. I was going to make the armor removable, but it was too much of a pain in the ass for the chest plate & shoulder pads, so I just glued them into place. I chopped the "target sensor" off his helmet because I thought it looked lame. Now I kinda wish I'd left it on - something looks off on this one...

Enjoy!

Very cool custom!

I like the parts usage and color choices very much and the back story is great as well :)

Interesting. . .

I like the overall presentation, but I think the legs are disproportionately beefy as compared to the upper body. And I agree that the helmet looks off without the range finder.

Nice bio though. Needs a "The name "Bob A. Fett" does not identify any person living or dead or any Lucasfilm character." disclaimer at the bottom though

Thanks guys!

Yeah, the GH legs are a little too beefy, but with the armor on, it's not quite so bad in-hand. And besides, I need to use up all that fodder on something :D

I've thought long & hard (heh :P) about the rangefinder and I think I'll just go ahead and leave it off. I figure in a practical sense, the helmet has a built-in HUD, so there wouldn't be any need for external parts. Kinda like when I decided to leave the rocket off the backpack - sure it's iconic, but the design just doesn't make much sense. And he needs to be different from Boba in some respects, anyway. I actually painted him TOO much like Boba, which I didn't want to do at first, but I still like how he turned out.

Thanks again for the comments!

I actally prefer the more muscular legs. I always saw Bob as a more powerful guy. One who worked out between assassinating officials and dodging Joe bullets.

From a stricktly craftmanship point of view..I think this might be your best custom...The painting is tight, the details all look finished...all in all it's a very clean lookng custom.

Like you said, I think you've made it TOO much like Boba Fett in the color scheme. It could use a bit more work to bring it into a "Joeverse"... Not sure what more it needs, I'd say make it in ARAH but I know thats not your style. Maybe if you made the color a bit closer to V1 Firefly, or gave him a Cobra Sigil

Just change this to: "...The name Bob A. Fett does not identify any person living, dead, or last seen being slowly devoured in the maw of a Sarlaac, or any other Lucasfilm character..."

Freakin nice, I prompted chief!

Great figure, I think the helmet being modded makes him a bit less sci fi, if that can be said about anyone with a jetpack, :)

Its kind of funny, my guy got comments saying his legs were too thin, and you're guy too beefy.

Hmm, :)

Thanks dudes -

Nova - appreciate the comments. I think maybe if I darken the jumpsuit it might make a difference. I had planed to go with a really dark gray, but I had a can of Haze Gray Tamiya spraypaint and used that instead (but I can go back and darken it by hand) same with the armor- I should've gone with something darker or maybe a blue, but got carried away with "Boba-tizing" him (probably wanted to show off my Mandalorian armor-painting skills - I've made a dozen or more of them :P) But the more I look at him, I think I'll paint his coveralls in a grayish black to set him apart (I've got to hide some green stuff under his chestplate anyway) and then I might take the red off of his helmet as well. I'm going to leave the armor pretty much as-is so he looks a bit like Boba. And I actually was putting a hybrid Cobra logo/Death's head symbol on his shoulder pads, but I screwed up painting it, and I always disliked that the Cobra mercs wore emblems anyway (Firefly, etc.)

Narc -- I think with our customs, it's not so much the legs as the torsos -- yours was nice & meaty, and mine is a little puny - so they make the legs look odd by comparison. :D

I'll try to update him today and post a new pic -- thanks for the suggestions everyone!

This is going on my "to do" list. I love a good Fett custom.

That's EXACTLY it.

The legs look good, but combined with the smaller upper body look weird. Ah well, it's growing on me anyway. . .

Chief,

Do you still have Beachhead's legs lying around? Maybe he should be taller and not beefier? I love this guy. You did an awsome jobe that is for sure.

Actually Lance, the BH legs are quite a bit beefier than the GH legs. So beefy that they won't even fit in the SE hip socket without cramming them in place (I've tried.)

Thanks!

Ok, I decided I have way too many Boba Fett/Mandalorian customs anyway (I was a big SW customizer before getting back into Joes), so I gave Bob here a darker jumpsuit to set him apart. I was going to paint a death's head skull on his chest like the Mandalorian (Llats Ward?) seen here, and I may still someday later, but I'm too tired right now.

I also figured I'd give him a .44 for his sidearm to make him more Earth-like and everyone knows that you can't be in a Joeverse if you aren't part Ninja, so.... :P

So I'm pretty happy with him now - he's different enough from the SW Boba that it doesn't seem like anything's "missing" anymore.

Thoughts?
