I watched a special on National Geographic last night about these guys. They're nuts. They are more or less mercenaries. If it came down to it, the US could try them as such and have them put away for a long time. I decided that I wanted to make a small group of these guys as well, so here is my first shot.

I'm calling him 99.9993% done.

I swapped the leg pack after getting some friendly advice. The head...ugh...the head. I don't like it...but I do. I like the somewhat military look to it...but don't like that it's Duke (Conrad Hauser Duke, not Russell Duke). I have a couple of others I may try on him, but have to do some work on them to fit.

I like the concept, and I like the look. Good/interesting parts choices. I get what you're saying on the head. My suggestion to cure your concern on it is to paint it. At least the hair, maybe the whole thing, possibly including adding some 5 o'clock shadow.

I agree a new hair color and other paint would make him look less like duke.

Also..accessorize. There's this mic thing from Marauder INC: http://www.marauderinc.com/servlet/Detail?no=319

A number of 3rd party casters have sunglasses in their stock....something like okleys would work well on this type of guy.

I completely forgot about adding a radio. I have one to add too...but in my haste to get pics done, forgot it.

As for accessories, he doesn't need that much. Maybe a satchel, but that might be on my next figure. These guys' load out is pretty bare. Chest rig, maybe a back pack. Pretty much all ammo as well. They're not out in the field like regular Army is. They do quick in and out things like protecting supplies, and VIPs.

I like the sunglasses idea. You can get some dirt cheap from Guru Planet

Before I even started this guy, I ordered a couple of those Annika figures, so I'll steal the glasses from one of them.

I really really want the Jack Hat Head from Asphalt, but don't see much else I like right now there...so I'm gonna have to wait.

With that head, it's Duke. No way around it. However, it's an interesting mix of parts- and the shirt seems non-military enough to pass the figure as a contractor. Something about the vest/armor. Maybe paint the pouches to match the rest of the figure?

I had half an idea of painting the pouches tan, but didn't go ahead with it.

I'm going change the head. That much I know.
