Thanks for continuing the wip pics. Sometimes it's nice to be able to see exactly what went into the making of a custom.

Finally, a major update.

I thought I had completed the paint job, I had added a few accessories to the body: capes, the crotch guard thingie etc. It looked quite nice in my opinion.

The head was done as well.

And then I realized the head and its tentacles didn't sit properly on the shoulder armor. I couldn't push the head all the way down onto the neck ball because the shoulder pads got in the way of the tentacles. I didn't like the overall look of it so I decided against extending the neck's length. Instead, I decided to move the shoulder pads a bit closer to the extremities of the shoulders.

Although this time, instead of re-adjusting everything to use the existing pegs on the inner side of the shoulder armor pads (and thus having to drill new holes into the torso), I decided to get rid of the pegs and use neomydium magnets...

I drilled small holes into the torso and into the shoulder armor. I inserted the magnets in those holes, glued them, and then covered them with epoxy. I've only worked on the left side so far, so I can test it tomorrow when the epoxy has fully cured. That will allow me to make adjustments if needed...

Boy, is this a challenging project.

Challenging, but well worth it. Where do you plan to go next? I'd love to see you tackle a super-poseable Exar Kun.

Superb work on this.

the finished article looks great.

My only critique is that the armour from his shoulders to elbows has been lost in the paintjob.

In WIPs they look scalloped and distinctive. In the finished pics they look too flat.

Thanks buddy!

I'd love to do an Exar Kun indeed. Right now, I'm working on a super-articulated Aayla Secura. I was quite bummed to find out Hasbro will be releasing a TVC version in the next few months, but judging by the early pictures, the legs won't do it for me, both in sculpt and articulation (swivel hips). At least my version will have ball joint hips :)

Thanks! I agree with you. I painted everything black, but gave the armor pieces a glossy finish, whereas the clothes are in matte black. The lighting in the picture doesn't show them apart. It looks a bit more distinctive in natural light, but even so, the armor doesn't stand out as much as I'd like.

Any suggestions on improving the paint job to better tell them apart? Maybe a lighter shade of black for the clothes?

Great job. I love it.

The last picture with the photoshopped lightsaber is the money shot.

To think you started with a "blank slate" figure and built it up to that is insane. That looks like a factory production figure. If you told me that was coming out this summer in comic pack I would believe you. Crazy cool.

Thank you all for the comments! I'm glad you like him.

This has been my most challenging project ever; sculpting was one thing I had to learn, but the most difficult part was the patience it took to see it through and not give up...

Now onto my super-articulated Aayla Secura! Stay tuned!
