Both are very. Great attention to detail. I have to ask, and it has been note before, what flesh-tone did you use for Conan because it's perfect?

I used Vallejo 021 Model Colour Medium Fleshtone for both Conan and Thoth Amon. It is the same paint I used for my Doc Savage custom as well. It is actually a shade darker than their Dark Fleshtone.

It has some minor imperfections. The eyes aren't quite right. Some of the sculpting isn't clean, but holy cucka that figure looks great. You did a great job of just going full bore and making all of the design aspects from scratch. I know that might sound like some back handed token "good for you" comment but I assure you, it isn't. I have rejected WIPs or stalled on projects when confronted with having to create the major design elements.

Thanks for the info. I'll definitely have to check them out.

I'm going to agree with pluv here. It's a great figure, and the parts choices are all perfect. I know the eyes are one of the hardest things, but as far as I'm concerned it's the only thing keeping these two figs from being perfect in execution as well as design.

My advice is, even if you're not going to get all the fine detail within the eye itself, is to at least go over the edges of the eye with the flesh color paint to "shape" the eye a bit more naturally. In this case, the wide-eyed look might be fitting, given the character and his sculpted expression. But I think if generally you did that, it would tighten up the look and these would be all set.

Those are so cool.
Makes me wish there was a whole line of 3 3/4 Conan figures out there.

Thanks, guys.

Eyes are one thing I have always had trouble with. I can get the left one correct, but then I seem to have trouble with the right. Maybe something to do with being right-handed.

That's funny you mention that- I'm left handed and have a hell of a time with the left eye.

Whew! I was worried that I had competition for the robed version of him, which is the one I am shooting for.

I like him, and the snake touch is genius. On the eyes, D is the man there...when you lightly outline the lids both under and upper, it helps wonders when you need to fix eye concerns. I share your pain there, since I have microtremmors in my hands that make doing the eyes an adventure.

Sweet works, and today I just got collected books 1, 5, and 6 to go with my 2, 3, and 4 from Borders. Taking these works very slowly, and enjoying the great pencils and inks from the icons of my time, like Barry Windsor-Smith, John Buscema, Alfredo Alcala, and the covers by the fantasy icons.

I'm right handed, and have trouble with the right eye too. I think you guys are on to something.

These are both great figures with excellent paint work. I commend you. I am dreading when I get my first cast pieces in and have to paint eyes for the first time.

Get some cheap figures and do a little practice. You will find a technique that works for you.

I did consider a version in a plain black or plain white robe, as in the books, but I like to be different (some would say a 'contrary little sod') Gots another idea for a white robed figure.

I'm right handed and have trouble with both eyes. I do flip the head upside down when painting eyes though. Actually I pretty much paint it from every angle. Something about being able to sweep the brush naturally towards the right instead of pushing to the left.
