Sorry for the delay, I was out of town for awhile. I was able to get a little work done over the last 2 nights. I am meshing the lower tower right now and its one of the toughest parts of this project so it is very time consuming as well. Pics below:

Image
This is the center portion of the lower tower. Because of the details the mesh has to be cut and trimmed to fit perfectly. Again I used pins to help hold the mesh down and reduce over spray. And again, I dont usually recommend this method because the pin holes damage the work. But its such a large project, in the grand scheme of things, I doubt the holes will be noticed.

Image
Here is the cut mesh for the next section. To get the piece to lay flat against the wall I had to trim out the port windows and the edges. There isnt much room for error, cut too much and the mesh is ruined due to the paint errors, cut too little and the mesh wont lay flat.

Image
Here are the results from that piece of mesh.

I finished a little more but I dont have pics. I only have three more steps to complete to finish the lower tower.

I don't know how much hep it will be now, but have you ever thought of using alligator clips to hold the mesh on, the come to a nice point and you can always use an old gift card or other card stock to keep it from biting into the plastic. I know it wont work for everything but if you dont like using pins you may want to look into a few of them.

I would like to thank everyone for the input and feedback. I figured out which name to go with for this custom. It wasnt on the voting list but I feel its the best fit. I also wrote a back story for it. Pic update below as well:

PYTHON PATROL LEVIATHAN

With the United States and the Joe Team fighting multiple campaigns in recent years, military spending in the U.S. was on the rise and a recent budget grant for the military included funds for a second carrier for G.I.Joe. This new carrier would serve as another mobile HQ and deployment point to increase the Joe Team’s capability to be in multiple places to keep terrorism and Cobra under control. She would be named the U.S.S. COLTON and would be the sister ship to the U.S.S. FLAGG.
Cobra Commander soon learned of the top secret construction of this new war vessel for G.I.Joe. It instantly became his obsession to steal the ship upon its completion and use it in his quest for global domination. Through careful planning and the use of many of Cobra’s best operatives, the COLTON fell into the hands of Cobra the night before its christening ceremony.
Upon its capture, Cobra Commander christened this high-tech carrier for Cobra as the C.S.S. LEVIATHAN. After a handful of successful campaigns using the LEVIATHAN, Cobra Commander could almost feel the United States and the Joe Team under his thumb. But he soon realized it was becoming more and more difficult to hide his new toy which G.I.Joe was now determined to find and destroy. Cobra Commander had the ship docked in a secret Cobra installation which boasted a ship hanger large enough for any sea vessel. Cobra Commander’s joy was now met with frustration because he possessed the ship capable of helping Cobra conquer the world, but he could no longer use it for fear of losing it. He had to find a way to hide the ship even on the high seas. The only mobile stealth technology he knew of was Python Patrol, which became the answer to his problem.
Cobra’s newest weapon of global domination joins the Python Patrol as the PYTHON LEVIATHAN. With full stealth capabilities from radar and most other forms of detection, the PYTHON LEVIATHAN can roam the seas at will and act as the spearhead for Python Patrol in Cobra’s campaigns to destroy G.I.Joe and conquer the world!

I finished the lower tower today, it was a big hurdle and I am glad to be done with it. There are still a few more tough parts for me to get done on the way to completion but I will keep on it.

Image
Last meshing for the lower tower.

Image
All the meshing is done for this part, but its not finished yet. It needs to be masked over so the details can be painted black as well as the base.

Image
The walls are masked over and the black paint has been applied. Once the tape is removed this part will be all done.

Image
All done with the part, I like the results, it turned out pretty good and looks sharp.

Most impressive...I'm seriously speechless. I like your bio story too. The Joes will no doubt get personal once they do get a "visual" on her. When you can, hit us back later with pics of her fully loaded and manned. Leviathan!

Who needs the rest of the tower, it looks great now.

I am sure the completed one will look just as good.

She's lookin real sharp bro, and that background on her is solid!
Now all you need is one of those 7ft plastic folding tables to put next to her when she's done.
Paint the table a nice concrete-like shade and you've got a berth for her launch from.

I got the second deck wall finished last night. All that is left is meshing the tow car, fuel car, touching up the flag post and painting the entire top of the tower. Shouldnt be much longer.

Image
First two meshings done for this piece, looking ok so far.

Image
Cutting and fitting mesh around the details. Like the lower level, these raised areas will be painted black.

Image
More finished work. I used pins around the door again, they work pretty well at reducing over spray.

Image

Image
Getting down around the front.

Image
All done with the meshings. All that is left is the details. The silver stripe on the side is is the wrong place but oh well. I was trying to line them up floor to floor but I forgot this section was the overhanging section towards the front.

Image
Masked off the meshed areas to paint in the details in black.

Image
Second wall in place, all done.

Image
A shot of the interiors.

Image
A view from over head.

Well its official, I have one piece left to finish, and then decals, but thats it. And yes I found the emblem decals I needed. I am on a push to finish this beast before I go to bed on Friday night, I might be up late that night based on what i think its going to take to finish the top of the tower. Anyway, here are some more pics.

Image
Here i am outlining the 88s on the tower. I already laid down the yellow paint and next I intend to paint in the black and then mask them over to finish the rest.

Image
Masked and ready for black paint. I did put on the black paint but I had some issues. When I masked over the black and peeled the tape off, a lot of the black paint came off too. So now when I am all done with everything else on this piece I get to go back and do these numbers again.

Image
I painted the underside of the top of the tower. That was only step one of say 50?

Image
I finished up the Captain's Dingy, another part done.

Image
Meshing the dome. I realized I couldnt do it all at once due to the shape, so I did it a 4th at a time.

Image
Dome all done.

Image
Finished up the Tow Car, it was easier to do the mesh than I thought, I just had to make a few cuts and tape it down. I stuck with the larger mesh on the Tow and Fuel Cars, I almost opted for the regular mesh, it might have looked better but I want these two vehicles to match the rest of the ship.

Image
Fuel Car is all done, this took meshes but it wasnt difficult. I did get a little heavy handed with the black paint.

Image
One more shot of the cars.

Image
Done with the basecoating on the top of the tower. I did a coat last night and two tonight to get full coverage. I will starting meshing tomorrow.

This just keeps getting better with every finished piece. Doing the tow car and fuel trailer and the dingy in the Python colors are the little touches that are making this more than just a simple repaint. Really looking forward to seeing it all done.
