Are you kidding? The guy who made the decision will probably get a promotion and a huge bonu$. This is pretty standard operating procedure for Hasbro when it comes to Joe. I have never seen a brand marketed as incompetently as Joe for the last decade or so. The designers may put their heart and souls into the product, but management couldn't care less about Joes if they tried.

What I am saying is not to try and sell Quinn and Doc Venom to the big box stores. Get a nice little list of fan favorites, and instead of selling them through master collector at 25 clams a pop, sell them through Hasbro toyshop at ten bucks a pop. No need to go to a con, just order as many Quins, Jinx's Zarana and what not your little heart desires, especially for those characters that there is already tooling for. Like say Zarana, didn't guys on the hasbro tour in RI say the saw her tooling already? if you have it made put it out there, couldn't cost any more then working it all the way to production then not releasing it. I mean how much did it cost to make suit Destro? then they use it once for SDCC pair it with medieval Destro and barely sell through them.

but hey if I could buy a suited character off of hts for ten clams, I would. I would buy the hell out of him. Easily twenty of them. Especially if I could pick from a couple different colors...
however I on't be going to SDCC, ever, and I didn't care for the two pack...

but yeah if they set something up where fanboys could buy what they wanted in the quantities they want then there would be a nice offset of cash coming in from fans that they can then use as a base when putting together product for the chains.

I have beaten this dead horse before, but I think Hasbro would really benefit from solid distribution.

If you look around, everyone is complaining about Distro. Star Wars fans were all over it during the presentation in relation to Vintage (which confounds most SW fans cause CW seem to get out just fine, with the exception of the last two waves for some reason).

Marvel Universe actually has had it worse than Joe in some cases. The WM problem effected them too and what was worse is if THAT wasn't the issue there were pegwarming Iron Man's that couldn't be cleared out. While Vintage had some problems with the Sandtrooper and Clone troopers pegwarming (and that was mostly due to the discoloration on the helmets that STILL has never been explained, but at least some solutions were found for) it wasn't as pronounced as MU's Iron Man (which had the double problem of the Iron Man line).

Really the only things that have made it past the distro problems are movie and tv lines (Cap, Thor, Transformers Dark of the moon, and Clone Wars primarly). The rest have fans up in arms in almost all the fandoms.

Star wars stuff sucks as far as distribution. I've seen newer G.I.Joe stuff before Star Wars. They were on the ball with it and now it's just old stuff over and over pretty much since Christmas. There's been a few new things here and there, but not much.

I don't see how this is possible if the product is never on the shelf. Every store within driving distance of me hasn't had a Joe figure on the shelf since wave one of POC. I haven't seen a vehicle since ROC.

I agree on the distribution being another messed up element, but I think store managers/buyers have to take some blame there. It seems they're betting their toy aisles on movie lines and going all in on the first wave every time. Recipe for sales disaster, given folks' short attention spans and the tendency of core characters to pegwarm.

As an aside, out of context pluv's quote makes it seem like blackmail.

"You fanboys want this awesome Kwinn we already showed you? Then you'll buy multiples of whatever we put out for the rest of the year. Then we'll see."

I'll take Ripcord over Kwinn or Data-Viper any day, and I like Kwinn.

I'd take Kwinn or Data-Viper over any Renegades figure but Tunnel Rat. In fact, if cancelling all Renegades but TR would ensure Kwinn & Data-Viper, I'd say do it.

Edit: Airtight & Law fly under he Renegades banner? Lame. Save them too.

No Renegades Scarlett? You're dead to me, again. You've died to me so many times you should be a hot mutant redhead.

Seriously?

I'm kind of torn if that's true. On the hand, the figure has great potential for customising, as well as just being really neat generally, but on the other hand, I don't really like the idea of only my female Joes having rocker ankles...

Adrien was just commenting on Vipers willingness to ditch Scarlett in favor of Kwinn.

Renegades Scarlett is a decent figure, but I'd ditch her in a second. Never saw her as that crucial of a character anyway, too much SE/ninja crap.

Thanks for the link KoP.
Some of those answers kinda bummed me out.

I hope Stormy wont loose his new ninja head in favor of the Renegade sculpt.

I wish, and I'm not saying this out of hate or being a jerk about it, that all fans would just stop buying. I would like to see Hasbro's answer about "kid support" then. I was selling at a convention this weekend with a bunch of kids. This was a redneck festival,... IE it was called Hunter's Expo. That was crazy. So many kids that didn't seem to know much about toys.

I had a bunch of those $2 G.I.Joe figures I was selling for $1 each. All but maybe 2 kids had no idea who these characters were. Even Baroness and she was in the recent movie. Then there was so many parents that referred to them as "army men". Saying "you have enough army men and don't need no more".

I also never saw so many parents that really was opposed to their kids getting toys. So much so that the only kids that really seemed most interested were the ones not old enough yet to have it drilled into them to stop looking at toys. But then these people were cheap SOBs. Heck even the $1 figures "were too high" for them. It was hard to sell much and I didn't really do that well. Mostly various Batman and Spiderman is all that sold. I was selling everything I had for cheap just to move stuff.

So yeah even way below Hasbro prices, redneck parents were hard to sell to. So add in the price of figures in store... I REALLY would like to see collectors stop buying. If Hasbro really saw the margin collectors make up, it would be interesting to hear their answer. I think after we all are dead and gone and any of us that have had kids pass, action figures may take a huge hit and may very well no longer be a toy that kids play with. We're talking a fair amount of time from now but still, it doesn't look like a bright future for action figures.
