What I'm also annoyed about is this happened to me last year (got Slaughter in the cart and it was yanked at checkout). Because the SDCC Destros were around for so long on HTS (they probably made many more because of that movie that everyone loved) and Hasbro said they would produce more Slaughters, I waited all year for another Slaughter release that never came and so I never got that figure. I thought it would be obvious that Zarana was at least in demand if not more than Slaughter, and I really believed that the issues raised LAST YEAR would be fixed this year, but no... (All this is not even to mention Starscream, which I also wanted, but have now given up on like the Sarge).

Thank you for your e-mail and for your interest in HasbroToyShop.com. We do apologize for your troubles in ordering this year’s exclusive San Diego Comic Con items from HasbroToyShop.com. Due to high volumes of activity on the website today, both the HasbroToyShop.com website and our internal system were moving very slowly and in some cases not loading at all. Due to the website being consistently non-responsive for several hours, many people were unable to secure the exclusive item(s) that they were trying to order.

Unfortunately, when an item is placed in a customer’s cart, the item is not reserved for that customer until the order has been completely placed and the customer receives the order number. Therefore, if a customer added an item to their cart and by the time the customer was able to check out with their order the item was no longer available, this means the item was unfortunately sold out in the meantime.

Unfortunately, there is no reserved stock of the exclusive Comic Con items and once they are sold out on HasbroToyShop.com, there will be no more available as these items were made in limited quantities and will not be restocked at any time.

We would like to apologize for the long hold time that customers experienced during the afternoon on July 26th as there was an inundation of phone calls of customers with questions and concerns in regards to the Comic Con exclusives. Customer satisfaction is very important to us and we always strive to answer phone calls from every customer as soon as we are able.

Again, we apologize that many customers were unable to place orders for the exclusive items they wanted to purchase. These items are made in limited quantities as they are exclusive to the Comic Con convention and a small amount are reserved to be sold from HasbroToyShop.com after the convention for customers who were unable to attend.

We are working with our corporate offices and technical support teams to be better prepared for the release of the Comic Con exclusive items on HasbroToyShop.com after next year’s convention. We apologize again for any inconveniences the website issues and long hold times caused on July 26th. If there is anything else we can assist you with, please let us know

Well, I see no reason not to trust that last paragraph....

I got the same canned response from them last night.

Damnit, I thought I was special. I feel betrayed by Chris at HTS now.

How about giving me the Star Scream and Black Zarana I had sitting in my cart for two hours while your site went to "LASER BLAST". How about you give me a discount for the 2.5 hrs it took me to even place an order, time I can't get back. Or even better why don't cancel the numerous orders to the same eBay sellers that some how were the majority of the people that got any product.

Or how about we as a fan base just fire bomb your store for the complete lack of competence you show year after year, and even blatantly prepare for it by having a "staff meeting" on the busiest day of the year for orders.

Over-react much, Fodder Monkey? Pretty sure threatening real world terrorist acts is at least a "probation."

Actually I'd love to get a voucher if they based it off what I make hourly to make up for lost productivity at work. Just don't know what I'd do with 90 bucks on their site.

Give it to your employer because you were wasting THEIR time dicking around online trying to buy toys?

Na, for me this kinda, sorta, takes the sting out of not getting any type of raise in four years. :-D

I'm just gonna echo what everyone has said in this thread. I have the money and I want to give it to Hasbro. While I am a small fish to them, companies should not go out of their way to alienate their customers. HTS is set up to be a direct-to-consumer endeavor and yet they cannot manage it effectively to seperate me from my money and the worst thing is the effort on their part is minimal. Stock the item I want and send it to me. I waited 3 days at the con and another wasted morning online to get 1 Starscream Skystriker and I still do not have the item I want. Hasbro could've easily doubled the production run for SDCC and they still would've sold-out leftover stock online.

I'm not gonna say I am done with Hasbro, but I will say that over the last 4 years, it has been harder to find the products I want at retail stores and more times than not, I am buying second-hand off eBay, so that means the products I do buy are not really contributing to them. I am starting to wonder if Hasbro thinks it's better to hype-up their products to create this kind of frenzy, just for the media attention. Another hobby of mine used to be buying sneakers until it became too hard to buy limited release Nikes and Jordans. Nike had every opportunity to create more sneakers, but they just let their customers fight over the smaller production runs to build hype. I stopped camping out for sneakers because it became work and I'm starting to feel the same way about these little plastic men :-/

I've read a few comments on Toynewsi and let's just say that they feel the same way except that they're less polite about it.

well...

(people are gonna hate me for this)

there was no staff meeting.

apparently hasbro toy shop, in its mighty wisdom, only had one server and 7 people answering phone calls, with about 9,000 people calling in all at once. so when the customer service people could no longer answer phones, they tried to use an automated message. rather than make a new one (which would have taken a half hour) they put up the only one they had, which was "at a meeting"... and then the server crashed...

also one of the issues is that although part of hasbro corp, HTS is actually run Autonomously from the rest of Hasbro (ever wonder how a place than manufactures the damn items can run out of stock?) even the Brand manager told me that sometimes they Under order items that the Brands KNOW will sell out (War machine, Alley Vipers, Venom, Etc) so thet their ware house isnt flooded.

(remember on the Con tour, we were well past ROC, almost into POC, yet the Hasbro Boutique only has 25th figures for some reason?)

However all of this is still NO EXCUSE, considering the EXACT SAME THING happened a year earlier. they had a year to prepare, ample time for warnings from the Brands from the excitement from Joecon and Botcon...

So this just proves they are incompetent and can't make proper business decisions that might actually benefit them, short term and long term?

Here's just another example of Hasbro not caring-

Image
Image

Yes, the Fluttershy figurine they made is just a straight recolor of Rainbow Dash. Now, this cartoon has 6 main character ponies and they can only be bothered to sculpt 5 figurines which are only about an inch tall. Not even a retool to the head? It'd be like... imagine if 25th Flint was just a straight recolor of Duke. The first one was almost, but it had a new head and harness. No, forget that, imagine if it had been just a straight repaint of Duke with no new parts.

What does amaze me is how Hasbro will practically treat their core company brands like garbage just because Transformers- a brand they license from Takara Tomy- sells better. Hasbro is reminding me of Dark Horse comics, a company that all but abandoned their own books to obscurity while focusing on licensed properties and manga.
