I remember issue #50 of the Marvel run during the Battle of Springfield and Hawk chose Stalker, Snake-Eyes, Scarlett, Quick Kick, Recondo, Spirit, Torpedo, Beach Head and Leatherneck as the Assault Team because they were the meanest mofos on the team at that time.

I'm not sure about Quick Kick... Maybe I'd have gone with Lowlight instead because of his personality and training. The filecards for Duke, Flint, and Falcon make them pretty hardcore too but the comics and cartoons failed to portray them as the snake-eating Vietnam veteran Green Berets they are.

So if you were to do a top ten list of bad @$$ Joes of all time, who would be in it and why?

- JM

Snake Eyes, he's the baddest assest.
Stalker, the comic pretty much cemented him as being the go to guy for the toughest missions.
Outback, if you need one guy to live long enough to get the cavalry to save you, you send this guy. Just ask Stalker.
Sgt. Slaughter, not because of the cartoon either. I love the Warthog version and used him on every mission I could.
Hit n Run, another Ranger who could totally blend in with his surroundings. With awesome weapons.
Dialtone, communications guys aren't known to be bad asses but this one is. He went on every mission.
Salvo, bald, big gunned, if the Joes need something to go boom, he's the guy to do it.
Tunnel Rat, if the Joes need someone to sneak in to make something go boom, he's the guy to do it.
Rock n Roll, a rock n roll surfer who likes to shoot big loud machine guns and is super loyal to his buddies. Bad ass.
Clutch, you knew if RR made this list Clutch isn't far behind. If it has wheels, there is only one man driving it. Give him an uzi and let him have at it.

Honorable mention:
Recondo, Shockwave, Falcon, Skidmark, Ripcord, and now Torpedo and Low Light.

EDIT - I'm editing my list because it was originally a Top 13... so the extraneous trio that are actually all equally bad ass were Spirit, Tunnel Rat, and Shockblast (Shockwave, whatever).

Quick Kick's attitude makes him a B.A. - Cocky non-ninja martial artist up against professional assassins

Beach Head: Was portrayed as such in cartoon, comics, filecard. And he just looked the part.
Outback: His exfil mission from Borovia was one of my favorite issues and helped cement him as one of my favorite Joes. (and how he subsequently pulled a knife on Leatherneck!)
Stalker: Former gang member, and the original field commander of the Joes.
Leatherneck: Again, the comic and filecard portray him as barely human.
Wet-Suit: Loved his filecard description.
Low-Light: The look, the specialty, the background info...
Falcon: Not the loser toon version. The filecard version.
Big Ben: Just being SAS qualifies him, in my opinion.
Chuckles: He hangs out with Cobra troops as part of his job, and always manages to come away unscathed!
Snake Eyes: Sigh.... I'm so sick of him, but he belongs here.

Snake eyes - no brainer
Recondo - the guy is named for recondo school, possibly the baddest ass advanced warfare school of all time
Thunder - my personal favorite figure, he got just enough characterization from the cartoon and comic to build on...
Stalker- he was the Shaft of my joe team
Flint- taking on that squad of eels and bedding lady J. He's the charlie sheen of the joe verse.
Duke - in the comics he showed up and told the best of the best they weren't good enough, and he whipped em into shape.
Ripcord - took on cobra island by himself, might have lost in the end but gave one of the uber ninjor characters a real run for their money.
Outback - escaping and living with the rest of the team being pissed at him, pretty badass
Deep Six - the man does not like loud noises

Good topic. I'll do a top ten later, but I gotta throw a vote in for Tollbooth. Sumbitch don't need a gun, he goes to battle with a sledgehammer!

Snake Eyes - Though he isn't in my top ten of favorite Joe's, he's still one of the baddest!
Outback - Others had mentioned the Borovia mission, and that's also my reason for his inclusion
Big Ben - SAS = bad dude
Mercer - Former Cobra Viper defected to the Joe's, and able to survive.
Beachhead - No nonsense DI and squad leader, just watch the animated movie, or pick up a comic.
Wet-Suit - File card all but said he was bad A$$
Stalker - Former warlord of a street gang turned Army Ranger
Tunnel Rat - Crawls around in the dark disarming or planting expolosives, and carried a big machine gun.
Recondo - Lived in Sierra Gordo with the Tucaro's, and single handeldy infiltrated a heavily guarded villa to take out a nazi war criminal
Claymore - As per the file card. I never had the original figure, but a custom figure I made is used in almost all covert missions.

I could have easily added Joe's like Torpedo, Leatherneck, and Ghost Rider to the list.
