I don't think my son appreciates I was making a version of him in plastic form just yet. But he does think the "kid" figure is a pretty cool one. That one is even cooler all geared up, once I get to that point.
Say, perhaps your boy's issue has to do with the fact that he resents his figure's resemblance to a young John C. Reilly...
I might. LOL.
Seriously fantastic stuff, D. Your skills have progressed by leagues over the past year. All of these look great, especially "the lady doctor".
While I cannot verify the accuracy, in any case, I am quite sure that the figure, as nice as she is, may not hold a candle to the real.
Sincerely flattered by your use of the garment, too. It looks to somewhat fit even over that shoulder rig, which is good. And again, thank you for using it in such a manner as would lend it perhaps some measure more value than what it would have otherwise imparted. And I'm glad that you dig it.
Better than ever all the time, brother.
Thanks JZ. The updated pics of my own custom and my son's are in this thread:
http://www.joecustoms.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=29474&p=329472&hilit=wife+custom#p329472I gave him an ipod which I was really happy with how it turned out. And fixed the eyes for both.
I should clarify that when I said he didn't "appreciate" it was of him, it wasn't that he was unhappy about it. I just think he had not got his mind around that being the purpose. Now he gets it, and he asks to play with these 3 figures all the time. I also made a little mech figure for his custom (not yet ready for public consumption, lol) and he loves that too.
Perhaps the most rewarding moment I've had as a customizer (who is also a dad) is when my son asked me to help him make my self custom hold the hand of his custom.
Also, I should add that while not everyone in my non-Joe world knows I do this as a hobby, my wife liked these so much she showed a lot of our friends and family these at my son's birthday party, and they were mostly impressed, though with many questions.

I never got around to commenting on this the first time around, so without further ado, let me just say this: beautiful work on all three. You've outdone yourself.
I love the concept behind them too. Sounds like the basis for some great bedtime stories.
Thanks man. Yeah, my boy is really digging these now. That said, I did make them mostly for me. I am going to make some "older versions" customs for him, so that when he plays he can pretend to be older. As a kid, I don't think I'd have enjoyed having my play self be a child also, lol.
