Head: Slayer Design Studios 'Grace'
Body: MU Black Widow
Feet: Ugha Warrior
Pike: MU Black Panther
Scimitar/Scabbard: Prince Dastan

First of all, a very heartfelt Thank-You to SlayerDave for supplying the head.:cheer:

IMHO, Grace Jones was the best thing about the mess that was 'Conan the Destroyer'. I feel that Zula was the role she was born to play. When I started on my Hyborian Age customs, I decided that she was probably the only character from that film that I would be making. Do NOT expect to see one of Malak (Tracey Walter).

Putting the body, feet and head together was the easy part, as was painting them. The costume was a little more problematical. There are very few good pictures online, and there is a lot of strapping involved. Fortunately for the latter, I have a big roll of stick-on vinyl coach trim. It is glossy, but a coat of matte varnish takes care of that. In the end, I went for a close approximation of her costume. I put the belt together with discs from the Black Widow figure and a couple of links from a cheap chain.

The scimitar was a very last minute addition. I bought a cheap ($2.50) Prince Dastan figure yesterday, mainly for the swords. I saw the scabbards on his back and took one off. After mocking it up on Zula, I liked the look so much that I went with it.

Got at least four more female figures planned for this set.

You gotta tighten up those eyes a bit. Otherwise I totally dig your take on her.
I really love that you're bringing the Conan world to life. Makes me want to customize a few more so my Conan has some company.

Slave to the Rhythm and all that

And as JFAK075 mentioned, the eyes. Which are my least favourite thing to do, need less stare.

As they other guys mentioned the eyes have some issues but that body is work of art. Knowing you added all of the textured stuff blows my mind. This is some of your best work yet.

You definitely nailed her look and all the details are awesome, maybe like the others said about her eyes, other than that little thing, another fine custom addition.

Yep, the eyes do look a bit too manly. Then again, Grace Jones herself does look manly. She even made it to Wayne's World Top 10 of "Men who look like women".....
The rest is very well done!

I appreciate the feedback, but I am leaving the eyes as they are. They give her a bit of a guano-crazy wild-eyed look, IMO. I think it suits her.

Are you going to give her that head butting helmet she wears in the movie ?

Maybe. I will have to think of how to make it removable. I have an idea, but I don't want to mess up what I have already done, or make it look too big.

Nicely done Kambei. I have my head on order from Slayer, and thought to give mine the look she had at the end of the movie where she has that Tutsi or Masai style haired headress.

Might even make the Zula from the printed works, who is male.

You mean... you mean... the movie one isn't?

Nice work Kam. I do think you can pull off the wide eyed crazy rage look and still tighten up the margins a bit around the eyes, but you do what makes you happy man. The sculpting is outstanding, and those fleshtones had to be tough keeping them even. Keep it up man.

I have been tempted to do the comic book version of Zula from the Belit story arc. I may even get around to doing the one from the end of the movie at some point in the distant future, but I have plenty on my plate for now.

drbindy, both Zula characters were actually created by the same person: Roy Thomas. He originally had a male African called Zula in the comics who was in for quite a few issues. When he was co-scripting Conan the Destroyer, he no longer worked for Marvel, so he rather cheekily used the same name and transformed the character into a woman.
